Endowed with the defensive power of a tortoise shell, this rune protects the condition of its wielder from any harmful status. Poison, balloon, unbalance ... it all bounces off in the blink of an eye. You don't have to worry carrying curative items with you while this rune is attached to your skin.
Dwarves are known for arming themselves with this protection, as they easily fall to various diseases digging into the ground day after day. The Turtle Rune was once sold in the Dwarf Village in Toran, gave Tir and his party the opportunity to buy some of these crystals. Another one was found ages ago in the Baska Mine where Dwarves live underground.
While the characters in Suikoden 1 have only one rune slot to spare, the crystal can come in handy nevertheless. Several Unite Attacks causes the involved combatants to lose their balance. With a Turtle Rune attached these Unites can be exercised every round ignoring their limitation. It seems this rune was forgotten after the Gate Rune Wars at first, but it appeared during the events of Suikoden 5, introducing its origin, the Parent Turtle Rune. - Celes
