Leknaat's lending hand
Theory:
Leknaat is not quite the observer as we all know. She secretly transforms into an SoD in order to aid each and every protagonist of the series. Each installment, she's been available to use unbeknownst to us.
Discussion:
The theory is fixed, you may express your opinions and negations about it but this thread ain't about the veracity of the theory.
It is about your theories on who is the alter Leknaat in the series
A few rules: (to prevent the thread to closing down)
1. You may name one for each series, or you may name only one from a single installment
2. Do not E-numerate, E-laborate
Plausible Candidates so far:
Suikoden - Hellion
Suikoden II - Nanami
Suikoden III - ?
Suikoden IV - Maxine
Suikoden V - Eresh
---------
My bet, it would have to be Jeane. I think it just all sums up
she's not aging and she appears all throughout the entire series just like Leknaat
oh and affinity to magic

Re: Leknaat's lending hand
The problem with Jeane is that its been stated that Jeane's agelessness is NOT due to a true rune, where as we know that Leknaat's is.
If i were to take a guess, I'd have to say that in S1 there was no alter Leknaat, as she played a vital role in the final attack done by the army against Gregminster. Though if i had to choose one, i'd say it would be Hellion, given her "burden" of another rune that she mentions to Tir when they meet, and the fact that she "took over Leknaat's position as Seer" after the end of the game.
In S5 it would have to be Zerase, given her nearly fanatical desire to set the runes right and her loner personality, she just seems the most like Leknaat.
I'll have to think on the rest....

Re: Leknaat's lending hand
its half of a true rune, but it is accepted cannon that her rune is why she she has eternal life.
For the most part halves of true runes seem to impose the same rules that full true runes do. With the notable exception of the bright shield and black sword runes, halves bestow eternal life and the bearer cannot control more than one at a time. Windy found a way to break that, and thus searched for the Soul Eater, but the point is that she had to find a way around that rule.
So i would assume that Leknaat would be under the same impositions as her sister. Her eternal life is bestowed by the rune, but she cannot shirk her duty to it.

Re: Leknaat's lending hand
oh right remeber (Vextor was it) saying that indeed she is carrying a half of the true rune
and that even though it is only half, infinity split into two is still infinity (or some analogy like that)
but technically she's still not holding a true rune...
Jeane is still a candidate though right?

Re: Leknaat's lending hand
Nope. Leknaat is technically holding a true rune, halved or not. Jeane's out. Viki's your only other option I guess if you want a consistent character.

*literally screaming NOOOO in a theatric stance*
from which reference does it say that Jeane's agelessness can't be caused by a true rune??
(trying to salvage my dreams)

Re: Leknaat's lending hand
It's just a known fact that Jeane doesn't have a True Rune.

Re: Leknaat's lending hand
I found this just by using the search engine and typing in "Jeane ageless" it was the first result. Try using the search engine sometimes when there's "common knowledge" being talked about to familiarize yourself with old threads.

I can't remember much about Viki, or whether anything has ever been said about her. However, because her age has consistently been displayed as "16" in all games, there's no indication that she has a true rune (true rune bearers still accumulate time, just like how Joshua Levenheit is shown as being 200+ years old). It either means a full year hasn't passed for Viki throughout the games, or time doesn't flow around her.

Luc in Suikoden 2? I know he was her apprentice but its still possible right, even if they meet at the same time togeather? She is very powerful you know...I doubt illusions would be hard for her to do.

Re: Leknaat's lending hand
I meant like when they were togeather as illusions, he could still retain memory of what he did but Leknaat could just be controlling him.

Re: Leknaat's lending hand
In suikoden 3 it would HAVE to be Sarah. She loves Luc and is constantly by his side even though she disagrees with his actions. Its kind of the opposite of Luc and Leknaat's relationship in the previous games. Perhaps Leknaat and Sarah share and kindred soul?
