o0o0oh, i see... but what's Al?KFCrispy wrote:Eugene has the Firefly Rune which strongly influences AI to become predictable and manageable. stick Eugene in a crowd of enemies and bring in your best attackers... more than likely all the enemies will surround Eugene and try to attack him. that makes battles much easier because you know to just focus on keeping Eugene alive instead of worrying about the whole team. also, Eugene's stat growth gets ridiculous after lvl 30 (i think that's the level, maybe 40); his PDF and EVA go through the roof. did i mention he also has high HP and SKL? the only problem with Eugene is he is slow, so you should plan your strategy accordingly.. enemies generally get a turn advantage over him (but at least they'll still be attacking him). another minor problem is that Eugene's low LUK helps him get permanently killed easily if he is defeated in battle, but you can always restart your battle if you don't want to lose characters permanently.

Eugene's one of the better characters so nobody's really discussed how to set him up. Kangacorn is useful in some points, but it takes away from his evasion and attack damage once your Battle Lust skill beats out the Kangacorn damage bonuses.

I only used Eugene on a Kangacorn during the early stages of the game when Cedric's not around. It was more for mobility and the speed boost was nice, too. Once he peaks, I just used Cedric initially, put him in the middle of the map, and switched to Eugene.

I see.. Eugene really is useful, huh. Hmm... I'll make him join my team next time. But what I'm worried about is his death.. Does naturally have high defense?

Re: Character Analysis, Tiers discussion
do remember Eugene bears the Firefly Rune
so if you're just starting out to use him
its crucial to know where to put him
or else you'll end up getting mobbed quite early and losing Eugene along the way

I dont know who here plays WOW but you know how you have a tank character? One who always runs up to the boss and just stands there and gets hit over and over not dying ever and being healed by others?
That is Eugene in this game.

interesting... As you people said, I've changed my impression about Eugene... I just thought he is most useless at S4.

Eugene also had amazing PDF and EVA stats in Suikoden IV, but only if you boost him to Level 99. He was still a better tank than Karl because of his Firefly Rune, and Karl's equipment choices were also limited, if I recall correctly. Only problem is you don't get him very early.

Re: Character Analysis, Tiers discussion
I guess I'll add my 2 cents.
I agree Eugene rocks in this game. Getting him fairly early in the game and giving him proper equipment setups he became my Golem punching bag (he was losing on average 100hp a hit while on element at lvl 41). More than makes up for his low speed I feel.
I'm playing on my 2nd run through so I plan on tinkering around with a few new characters. I'm still wondering why Jeane is ranked so low for a mage; she has a very high magic stat. Does she not have extra move? And I'm looking forward to fooling around with Kenneth, seems like he's a better choice on paper than Hervey whom I played consistently.

Jeane doesn't have Extra Move and is very slow. Basically, she's a turtle.
