True runes

It says in the True runes section of the history thing that True runes all bestow agelessness as well as immunity to disease and other natural causes of death. If that's the case shouldn't the bearer also be immune to status effects like balloon and poison?

And also, do partial True runes like riuo and jowy's have this benefit?

The Bright Shield and Black Sword Runes do not grant True Rune immunities, but the two halves of the Gate Rune do.

maybe it's terminal illnesses (such as cancers and diseases of the heart) that true runes protect their hosts from, and not temporary ailments, such as poison, sleep and silence, which wear off after a while even without treatment.

Also, sticking a balloon on someone's head is hardly the same as infecting them with a venomous bite. What baffles me is, most of your allies are armed with swords, spears and arrows, but the balloons can only be removed by popping them with a needle. :|

EDIT: Another way of looking at it, is if you become afflicted with a status effect in battle, then it hasn't occured naturally, it's been caused by an enemy attack. A lot of diseases and health complications just happen, or are hereditary. True Runes probably protect from these sorts of conditions.

Weird. Is the difference they separated it as opposed to starting separate?

Yup. It's been described elsewhere as the "Coffee Analogy." The Gate Rune was one cup of coffee poured into two cups. Both of the cups contain coffee, just a smaller amount of it. The Bright Shield and Black Sword Runes are water and grounds. Combined, they become coffee, but neither is coffee themselves in their current state.
