The Reconcilliation Ending
You head to the pass, either refusing to lead the country, or leaving the castle before you were asked. You meet Jowy at the rock you two slashed an X into in the beginning of the game.
Jowy looks over his shoulder at you.
Jowy
"Hero...you came. Just like you promised...here once again."
Jowy turns and takes a step towards you, head lowered.
Jowy
"This is where out journey began. You and I walked the along the same path for so long together, but this is where they began to diverge. But, I have no regrets. But if I did, it would be that I had to betray the City-State and asasinate lady anabelle...you and I were alot alike...we were both aiming for the same thing. But I just..."
Jowy pauses.
Jowy
"At the Highland camp, after I let you escape ahead, I was captured and met Luca Blight again. I hated him from the beginning, it's true. But I think I admired his strength a little bit too... I thought if I was that strong, I could protect everyone and I could create a gentle world where nobody would ever be hurt. But...."
Jowy stops again.
Jowy
"No, forget about it. This is a battle between the King of Highland and the leader of the Orange Army. This is truly...the final battle."
Hero (bold indicates answer given)
I guess you're right...
We don't need to fight.
Jowy takes his staff in hand.
Jowy
"We do...need to fight...hero...
You and Jowy duel, you defend the entire time, and after three turns...
Jowy
"........ Why?...why have you come all this way...only to decide now not to fight."
Hero (bold indicates answer given)
There's no reason to fight you.

Jowy
"There IS a reason...to remove any trace of the Highland kingdom from this land...Agares Blight and Luca Blight are already dead, and I've put Jillia to rest with my very own hands...Im the last living Blight. Cut the Blight line once and for all, or there will always be fanatics who'll try to revive the Highland Kingdom. After all, sometimes hope can drive people to madness...Let's make our war the last war ever to plague this land..."
Jowy again tries to fight you. You can attack him, but dont kill him. After about three rounds of defending, or after your HP drops down to critical, it will cancel the fight.
Jowy
"Hero, why...why won't you do it...Im the King of Highland...I fought the Orange Army and killed many of your friends...and...Nanami... too...Her....you have to...you have to fight...for your fallen comrades...for all the people..."
Hero (bold indicates answer given)

Jowy
"Are you going to betray all the people who have pinned their hopes on you?! Are you going to betray the dreams of your sister, Nanami, who protected you?"
Jowy tries to fight again. Defend the entire time, don't kill him!
Jowy
"Hero...I was always jealous of you. There is something about you...always so strong...and gentle...That's all I ever wanted...to be loved by everyone just like you are..."
Jowy collapses to his knees, as his staff rolls away.
Hero (bold indicates answer given)
JOWY!!!

"I...I used too much power...the Beast Rune that Luca tried to free...I had to use my "Black Sword Rune" to stop it..."
Jowy
"Our two runes together...they make a True Rune...But...if you use it by yourself...it takes your life. Hero...I'm going to die anyway...so...I give you my life...so the two can become one again...Hero...your right hand..."

"Hero...I ... I'm sorry...I can't stand it any more...all the lives I stole...all the people I hurt..."

Jowy's body begins to shine brightly.

"Wh... What's this....."
The Hero's body begins to flash as well.
Jowy
"The rune....This power..... It's healing my body..."
Leknaat appears.
Leknaat
"The 'Rune of beginning'.... It only appears when the holders of the two runes face each other in combat.Just as when this world was first born... Hero.... even so.... You choose not to fight... That spirit... and the spirit of 108 stars of destiny....They have called forth the power of the true rune of beginning. Hero... just as i thought, you are a strong man.... . Please go... Hero, Jowy the world is still mostly unknown to you, overflowing with new things. There's no reason for you to stay in these lands."
Jowy
" . . . .But.... I ... I murdered people with my own two hands...Lady Anabelle, Luca Blight and all those soldiers... My sins are heavy...."
Jowy stands, head bowed and fists clenched.
Leknaat
"And they will not disappear as long as you live, but I believe you're strong enough to go and make this world a better place."
Leknaat disappears.
Jowy pauses.
Jowy
" . . . . . . . . . . The man called Jowy Blight has no place on this world anymore....But I can forget this land, forget the name Jowy and maybe....I can start again...."
Hero (bold indicates answer given)
Of course.
You must understand...
Jowy faces you.
Jowy
"Hero....This was the place where our journey began.... How many hours have passed once we were first here.... Let's go.... Hero... Let's make this place the beginning of our journey..."
Jowy and you head down off the pass. After a few moments, Jowy hesitates and turns to face you.
Jowy
"If we hadn't run away then....."
Shu
"Then we'd have problems, because without you two, we wouldn't have peace in this land. Lord Hero, So you're leaving eh... I had hoped that you would stayed and lead this country, you're the right man to do it. But i won't try to stop you. you're certainly paid your dues and then some we could ask no more of you. Go out and there and see the world, feel the world. It's still a big world to you. And I hope that when you're finished with your journey, one day you'll com back."
Shu
"There's just on thing I have left to report. Although I was asked not to tell you until this point. I'll understand if you wish to punish me for disloyalty."
Shu
"When Nanami fell in the Matilda knightdom."
As Shu recounts the scene, you are given a flashback of the time after Rockaxe castle fell. The Hero and a group of friends wait anxioulsy outside Dr. Huan's office as he comes out to tell them that he failed to save Nanami's life.
Flik steps forward.
Flik
"What!? But...!!! How could you fail!!?"
Viktor turns on his friend.
Viktor
"Quit it, Flik! He did all he could, don't take your anger out of him."
Flik
"I know that! I know!!! But... But... What about Hero..Damn it. Kiba... and Nanami...They've fought along with us!!! and even though we won... even though we've come so far..."
Viktor says nothing.
Flik
"Damn..."
Eilie looks at the hero.
Eilie
"Hero..."
In the silence that ensues, Huan speaks up.
Huan
"Lord Shu..."
Shu
"What is it?"
Huan
"Can I speak with you... inside?"
Shu enters the room where you see Nanami lying on the bed. However, as you watch, Nanami speaks.
Nanami
"Sir Shu...."
Shu
"Oh.... Doctor Huan."
Nanami
"I'm sorry.... I asked Doctor Huan...."
Shu
"Something on your mind?"
Nanami
"Yes...I... I... I'm thinking about getting away from Hero for a while."
Shu
".... Hero will be saddened to hear that."
Nanami
"I know... I know that, but... But it's hard for me... Hero and Jowy fighting...Also it's hard for me to see Hero in pain.... . When there were arrows raining down on us and Hero tried to shield me with his body, I realized it...Hero shouldn't do such thing. He's too important for that...."
Shu
"A leader of men can't behave like that."
Nanami
"That's... that's why I'm going to let you have him all to yourself for a while."
Shu
"What will you do?"
Nanami
"I'll go back to Granpa Genkaku's house. I think It's safe and besides... besides... when this is all over, that kid will need a place to return home to right? Also.... I have a favor to ask. If it's ever time for Hero to come home, tell him about this conversation."
Shu
"Why do you ask me to do it?"
Nanami
"Because I figured if it's you, you'd never tell him until it was absolutely necessary..."
Shu
"Yeah, you're right... I'll do it."
The scene fades out back to the present. Shu still faces you as you listen.
Shu
"And so... That it... and these are my final words to you as your strategist. Take good care of yourself, Lord Hero."
The scene fades out and flashes you bask to Kyaro town, running to meet Nanami who is waiting for you at Genkaku's dojo. She runs out to meet the both of you, arms opening wide. Then you are shown praying at Genkaku's grave, before you head to the Atreides manor. Jowy looks at the house past the gate, but does not enter, turning and walking away.
The next scene takes place in Harmonia, where Jillia and Pilika are outside. Pilika is watering a flower (I think) when she puts down the can and runs to the gate as Jillia looks up. But it is already too late. Jowy and Nanami and Hero have already left.
The last scene you see is Nanami and Hero crossing the bridge (it looks like back over to Kyaro area) with Jowy running to catch up.
