A man from Citro Village, Dirk is a close friend of the Hero and an active member in the Citro Defense Corps. He is the one who handled martial training of all the Citro youth. The Hero considers him a big brother.

Dirk accompanied the Defense Corps to get rid of the Laggarts, but was not chosen by the marks of the stars when the Hero found the Chronicle of Shining Legacy. As such, he was unable to remember that the forest used to be a valley. Dirk returned to the village when the Hero went to Cynas to research the book he found.

Dirk returned when the Order started to march towards Citro Village, and attempted to fight with Logan. However, Conon proved to be too difficult to handle, and he had to be rescued by the Hero and the reinforcements from Janam.

He left the Hero’s castle, stating that he was going to stay and protect the village. On the walk home, Dirk found himself confused, wondering why he couldn’t be proud of his students for surpassing him. Diadora found him, claiming that he would have been proud, if, through effort and experience, they surpassed him, but they merely chanced upon a book and gained strange powers.

Believing that the Chronicles were the problem, Dirk joined the Order. He returned to the Hero’s castle in the guise of a friendly visit, and tried to burn the Chronicles. The Hero gave chase, but Dirk escaped with help from Nova and Sophia.

Dirk successfully drives a wedge between the Hero and Diulf, when the Hero can’t admit that he and Dirk are enemies. However, the Hero and Diulf are still able to come to terms when the Order attacks, as the Hero merely rushes to save the Furious Roar without regard to Diluf’s opinion.

When Diadora successfully obtains the Chronicles, Dirk is implanted with the Chronicle of the Furious Roar. Although the Hero and Diulf manage to fight him, Dirk does not fade like Fergus or Conon, and retreats with the Chronicle. He attacks the Hero and Prince Shams after the 10th fusion, but Taj vigorously defends his master, despite not being a Starbearer at that time.

After the battle of Fort Arc, Dirk sneaks off and infiltrates the Hero’s Castle, stealthily attacking Liu and forcing the Scribe to give Dirk the mark of the Tautau Council. After fighting with the Hero, Valfred attempts to fuse the 11th world on top of the Hero’s castle, erasing him from existence. However, Dirk is prepared for his plan. He learned of how Rizwan was able to alter the location of the 10th world using the Chronicle of Ancient Covenant. However, since the Chronicles the Hero obtained had their power spent already, they would not have been able to be used, save the Mark of the Shining Legacy. However, Dirk also mentions that the Tautau Council, as Lao-Kwan had kept it hidden, would also work. He uses that Chronicle, as well as the Furious Roar, to alter the location of the Fusion. The power is too much for Dirk’s body, and he falls. Before he dies, he remarks that he had always thought that the Chronicles themselves forced the Hero and his friends on a path they had no desire to take. However, he came to realize that they wanted to battle the One King and save the Infinity. He then dies, and his body crumbles, the Tautau Council returning to Liu. - Matt620
