The captain of the Mage forces of Janam, serving directly under General Shairah, Asad is a skilled soldier who journeyed to the Company’s aid when the Order sent soldiers to attack them. Trained in the use of Mage Arts, he proposed the idea of forging an alliance with the Magedom of Janam to the Hero, to help him defend Citro Village. Asad went with the Hero to scout out Ladzaa Fortress under Shairah’s orders, but grew increasingly frustrated when the Magedom used the Hero’s company and the Blades of Night’s Veil as front-line fodder troops, while the Mage Corps would hang around in the back and take all the credit.

After the destruction of Ladzaa in a flood, causing many Magedom casualties, and the blaming of the Blades of Night’s Veil for colluding with the Order, Asad became infuriated. He broke ranks and joined the Company, rescuing Chrodechild from the dungeon, and fought against Magedom soldiers to make it back to the Hero’s castle, where he realized himself as Starbearer.

Asad did not inform his comrades in the Mage Corps of his departure, not wanting them to commit treason with him. However, he still felt dedicated to them, and accepted Hafin and Nakil when they deserted into the Company.

Asad had an infatuation with Chrodechild, and was extremely eager to help her liberate Astrasia. He disliked the thought of Danash taking Chrodechild as his fourth consort, and envies the close relationships Chrodechild has with Meruvis and Fredegund. After the war was over, Chrodechild decided to establish the Royal Mage Forces composed of mage arts soldiers. Asad heads up this new brigade. - Matt620
