*Types of Mounts
tsuuma, tsuuma-armored, iwadori, iwadori-armored
tsuuma is the kangaroo, iwadori is the owl
I'm not sure what exactly the proper translation is.
*Do the mounts have names?
Don't think so.
*Advantages/Disadvantages of mounting
Superior movement, swing doesn't work. When mounted, mount-specific runes work and normal runes don't. Status changes.
*Any extra notes
Not all characters can ride, but plenty can. It's possible to mount, move, then change character all in one unit's turn.
If I'm correct, those kangaroos are the Gul-Horses that are native to the Toran area. Since Kooluk is south of Toran it's likely that there are Gul-Horses in that area as well.
Nah, The Tsunouma (Horned Horses) are not Gul-Horses. Gul-Horses are reptalian, while the Tsuouma are mamalian and look like kangaroos with horns.
The armored mounts give you better armor bonus while they don't add very much to your movement, while the unarmored mounts give you a pretty hefty boost for your movement. Some other stats also increase when you're mounted.
Ha, they look so familiar though. In the trailer I thought Kooluk had an exact replica of Teo's armored calvory because the similarities are so uncanny.
How do you obtain your mounts; tsuma and iwadori?
First of all, Sars is right, They're tsunouma, not tsuuma. The first tsunouma is acquired around the time Corselia joins. The black iwadori and armored iwadori join along with those two female Razril knights(the ones in the beginning of SuikoIV). The green one joins through a guild quest. I forget the rest.
Do you choose mount from the menu and they appear out of nowhere?
Yes.
I got my first Tsunouma when I visited Mercet for the first time (along with a somewhat shocking event). The second Tsunouma (armored) was gained as a prize for a quest. I just got my first two iwadoris yesterday, and they seem to be pretty important considering how you can't get some treasure chests without the ability to fly.
Tsunouma are able to do a rather powerful attack using the Tsunouma Rune. Tristan mounted on one of those using this rune seems to be able to defeat almost anything with one attack (My Tristan has a berserker belt that gives him +20 str).
Tsunouma Rune (Kangacorn Rune)
Charge - pierce through an enemy unit(user ends up on other side of enemy) and deal 2x damage. User suffers 20% damage.
Heart of Tsunouma - user goes berserk, and gains a direct defense and magic defense increase for a set number of turns.
Iwadori Rune (Great Owl Rune)
Wind Blade - deal 0.5x damage to enemies, +radius.
Heart of Iwadori - user goes berserk, and gains a hit rate and evade increase for a set number of turns.
Charge is by far the best spell. My Snowe and Jeremy killed most enemies at full health with a single charge.
