Enemy drop rates?

I'm aware that the items that monsters drop are organized into three categories (common, rare, and very rare). But does anyone know the actual probability of getting the items?

For example, a 1/4 chance to receive a common item, a 1/20 chance to find a rare one...etc.

I ask this both out of curiosity and because I'm currently looking for 100+ Crimson Capes to outfit everyone in my army.

... maybe you can keep track of how many you fight and how many are dropped and we'll have an actual drop rate (for at least that enemy...)!

Well, Suikoden II recently arrived in the mail, so as of late I've been playing that. I do intend to go back to the first to recieve all those items, though.

If I remember, I'll keep track, and post the results here. =)

but in suikoden 4 i got a hanging scroll
which is like the rarest thing
i was surprised
i hung it in my room

looks pretty cool

Those are pretty rare! I wonder what the drop rate is on that!
