I never got those clues, so what I did was to just go for the trial and error method. Walk up to a painting, look at it, then try to look at another one. If I messed up I'd exit the floor then go back. Easy peasy. And, yeah, that coffin was a lifesaver for me.

You do know that Onil tells you Neclord's favorite pictures in the order that he likes them? The combination is that backwards.
