Accessories

Post by Resk »

After posting the Sets and their requirements (when made through Adrienne or Phil) I thought I might as well finish off the custom equipment with an Accessory list.

These Accessories can be made by going to the Mermaid's Shop on the 5th level of your HQ. This is a list of what can be made, and what is required to make them:

-Guard Ring (Scale x10)
-Water Magic Ring (Scale x10, Pearl Shell x1)
-Magic Ring (Scale x20, Dragon Scale x1)
-Wind Magic Ring (Feather x10, Pearl Shell x1)
-Counter Ring (Horn x20, Unicorn's Horn x1)
-Earth Magic Ring (Shell x10, Pearl Shell x1)
-Lucky Ring (Shell x20, Giant Crab's Shell x1)
-Cape (Skin x4)
-Power Ring (Bone x20, Dragon's Bone x1)
-Thnder Magic Ring (Horn x10, Pearl Shell x1)
-Speed Ring (Feather x20, Giant Bird's Feather x1)
-Fire Magic Ring (Bone x10, earl Shell x1)
-Pearl Ring (Pearl x1)
-Water Amulet (Scale x10)
-Wind Amulet (Feather x10)
-Thunder Amulet (Horn x10)
-Fur Cape (Skin x10)
-Flame Amulet (Bone x10)
-Magic Canceller (Dragon's Bone x1, Parl Shell x1)
-Gold Emblem (Giant Crab's Shell, Pearl Shell x1)
-Pearl Bracelet (Pearl x1, Pearl Shell x1)
-Pearl Necklace (Pearl x2, Pearl Shell x1)
As the warlock said in the end, even if another age of storms buffets the world, I intend to go on living, and fighting, for you who saved me from the darkness, the one I love!

heh, Kenneth probably has his mom's hands! wonder if the game has that somewhere..

thanks for the complete list. i find that most of these items are pretty useless. reason being is that elemental magic rings seem to not exactly do what they claim to do in this game (bag of mixed results). you can buy Guard, Power, Lucky, and Speed Rings, which are the good/typical things.

Magic Canceller i thought was a good idea, but in the end, i feel it's more worth it to have a Speed Ring for this game's battle system, or Power Ring.

the Pearl Bracelet looks good. that's about it.

kosento: That must have taken awhile; making / buying each accessory and then recording their effects. How about posting a list of all the foot gear and their effects for me? Of course, if the above information has been ripped from the Brady guide, I suppose my request won't be possible. Please, don't copy information from the Brady guide. It's filled with several errors and I don't think people here trust it very much.

A note to everyone: I'm compiling a list of all equipment and their locations as I go through the game. I'll eventually get it posted, along with all the other gameplay guides. There's so much to this game. -_-

I did take the information from the Brady Guide, however I personally double-checked almost all of them myself because I know all too well about how innacurate it is (I spent a lot of time looking for the Interior Design Book in the 'Obel Plaza' ((though it lists the correct location elsewhere in the guide)) ). Some of them, like the Guard Ring, which I figured were probably correct from memory, I left alone. I am however positive about the Pearl Bracelet/Necklace thing, and I'm still confused by it. I didn't take the time to test certain parameters though, like in the Water Ring I didn't test for Water Magic + 10% or Magic Defense + 5% because I'd have to go through battles to test it, and that'd take waaay longer, but I assume the guide is at least trustworthy in those cases.

I can give you data for the foot equipment I can get a hold of, but I don't have the Hero Boots yet. I'm pretty sure I have most of the other foot equips though as well as all the ones from the sets you can craft.

'I can give you data for the foot equipment I can get a hold of...'

No, that's not necessary, I was just joking around. I've managed to get the data on all the foot gear acquired so far.

-Viki (Light, Girl, and Magical)

Not completely accurate because there's nobody that can only equip Girl or Woman equips for feet at least.

If I find a new piece of footwear and can't find anyone in my current party who can equip it, I'll check out this list.

I'm having a rather difficult time deciding which accessories would be the most effective for each fighter type. Speed Ring seems to be the number one choice for practically every character, regardless of what their speed growth is. Power Ring is probably the next best accessory for melee characters and possily an elemental Magic Ring or two for mages. When it comes to deciding a third accessory though, I'm just not sure.

Guard Ring / Gold Emblem both add some additional magic defense, but honestly, I haven't noticed much difference in damage received with them equipped. These don't seem worth the hassle.

Counter Ring appears to have two effects - increases skill by 5 and increases counter attack percentage. Seems like a nice accessory for those who could benefit from a little bit of accuracy and really good for those who have high evade. This seems like one possible choice for melee fighters.

Thunder Amulet also has two effects - increases lightning resistance and increases accuracy. The boost in accuracy is most likely higher than what the Counter Ring offers, however, the amulet doesn't offer any counter attack boosts and the lightning resistance isn't necessary. Still, this is another possible choice.

Crimson Cape seems to be the perfect choice for a mage. The defense boost is higher than any other accessory and it also increases magic by 10. I'm under the impression only one can be acquired from net-fishing in the Razril area. Can anyone confirm this?

Any thoughts? Any other accessories that should be mentioned; besides those ultra powerful, one per game accessories?

I believe Power Gloves only increase power by 5. Stick with Power Rings.

I much prefer equipping everyone with Power and Speed Rings instead of...pretty much anything else. It's nice how available they are in the game. Mages always get three Speed Rings. Some of them aren't so bad, but others (Jeane) really, really need that speed boost. The Silk set seems to help a bit, I did notice a difference when I had Ted equipped with the entire set. In every single battle in the Training Hall, he goes first (even if it's against someone like Kate). I haven't really tested the effectiveness of Power Rings, but I figure increasing anyones attack by 30 can't hurt. For faster physical attackers I give them two Power Rings and one Speed. Mediocre ones usually get two Speed Rings and one Power. I haven't touched uber-slow characters yet.

I did try using Thunder Amulets for a while but I didn't notice much of a difference. Enemies seem to like to dodge Mitsuba in particular, but I found simply leveling her up works fine.

I have considered using Counter Rings, but in the end I'd rather just have more power or speed. Doesn't really seem worth it to me.

oh i found that Power Gloves are hand equipment.. is Ribbon a helmet or accessory? that was a pretty good item but not so useful compared to having complete armor sets if it's a helmet. could very useful if it's an accessory. it boosts almost all stats a little.
