Re: Suikoden Revival Movement
It is indeed their standard response, especially in regards to Suikoden.
Konami did open up once, when they wanted us to ask them 20 questions with the release of Tierkreis, however, I think they were expecting more questions in regards of Tierkreis whereas we used this opportunity to ask them questions about Suikoden in general.

Second reply :
Dear Konami.
I feel very glad that you did respond but why cant you answer more clearly?
Suikoden 1 is already translated and ready for release, so why hasnt it?
Why dont Konami care for the fans?
Is Suikoden 1 even being considered for the EU market? So many fans wants answers and still Konami just turn the back on the fans. Is that the way for a big company? Does Konami think about the fans of Suikoden at all or is it just Metal Gear Solid fans that mathers to Konami?
I dont know who sits and answers these questions but please send this mail higher up so the fans of Suikoden can finally get som answers.
Do we really need to break the law and create a US-psn account just to buy our favorite game to the PS VIta?
Is that what Konami wants us to do, because thats what alot of people have been forced to do. Just to play ONE game.
Please release the Suikoden-series on the psn store so we can enjoy it on our PS Vita and please let us in EU get access to. With the games already translated for english and fans wanting to play. What is the hold up?
Please Konami. start to take care of the supporters and fans of Suikoden and in the long run Konami will become a more welthy and respeccted company.
Thank you for reading

Dear Joey Karma,
Thank you for your reply.
I want you to know that we really appreciate your enthusiasm and all feedback of this kind does get sent to higher places. I am still unable to offer you any further details about specific decisions made by the company.
Thanks again for your interest - Alex

Re: Suikoden Revival Movement
In trying to help the SRM to gather new members, I today started a swedish SRM group on www.gamereactor.se. The biggest gaming-site in sweden. With 207 000 unique readers every week i figured this could gather up some new supporters. So far only 3 members (and me) but hopefully there will be more as the word spreads.
I used the original english presentation from facebook for the group description and wrote an swedish presentation on the forum with links to all SRM-sites and some links to the sites that have been helping to spread the words.
Hopefully some more people will help with Operation Blinking Mirror in december.

Re: Suikoden Revival Movement
Good stuff.
I think their lack of response particularly with the suikoden series suggest that suikoden aint dead yet. It's in their with " We might consider it in the future" kinda games. No plans, but it's between maybe and dead at least.

Re: Suikoden Revival Movement
To be fair, we had very good conversations with the UK branch. I don't know who is responsible for the EU pages on Fb and twitter, but UK was always very good. of course, we cannot go into detail (as well as the Konami employees cannot go into details concerning digital releases), but they are very open to the Suikoden fandom.

Never too soon to get in touch with whatever is left of the GenSui team at Konami Japan, perhaps?

Re: Suikoden Revival Movement
Snuff, I think you are being a little too harsh on Konami UK here. It is not within the capabilities of Konami UK to make major decisions regarding Suikoden's future. But they have been very, VERY good to the SRM and the Suikoden fans at large.

Re: Suikoden Revival Movement
Konami in general has been pushing their health club & gym business a lot more these days and distancing themselves from their old gaming and casino operation business. Konami UK has almost zero impact on Konami's decision as a whole... Konami is still a company operated by the founding family and their stock-holders are mostly Japanese banks. Thus, foreign pressure has little if any impact.
However, I can also understand snuff's approach as well. Fans should not be in the business of worrying about the internal structure and whatnot of corporations-- Konami UK is the representative of Konami after all (in the UK) so they should naturally be on the receiving end of critique as well, and it should be their duty to communicate that to Konami"s HQ. However, it is naturally more effective for fans to go directly to the source at the HQ-- but not all fans can do this (a sit requires Japanese skill), and not everyone has that degree of drive.
I can also understand SRMs concern when fans become aggressive towards portions of Konami who have shown understanding and support to our plight. "over-aggressive fans" might turn these internal Konami supporters away from SRM, there is always that risk.
Even then, I think this just shows how the movement has gained momentum and has grown. Any group will end up reaching a point where one idea can no longer unify the group. The more people you have, the greater the differences become and polarization can not be avoided. The apologetic, friendly approach will end up being viewed as "too soft", "political", or "compromising", while the more direct and angry approach will be viewed as "rabid" and "destructive" from the other side; you see this happen everywhere.
However, the success of any movement hinges on the interaction and congruity of both these types of opposites. The extremists can have an impact with their anger, and the apologists can come in after that to make amends. The combined effort ends up in overall progress although members of each might engage in their own mini-verbal wars.
In such cases though, it is probably best to have the more extreme activities function outside SRM... such as "Angry Fans of Suikoden" or something.

Re: Suikoden Revival Movement
For the ultimate goal of reaching Konami Jp, Konami UK might be insignificant. However, for the goal of getting Suikoden on distribution platforms in EU, they may worth our time. Even though I don't really know.. Konami's EU HQ moved to London some time ago iirc, and there is a Konami UK and a Konami EU fanpage on Fb and Twitter, so I don't really know which is more "official". But as I said, we had some wonderful conversations with them and at least they listen. it may be our step into greater conversations.
Aso to angry fans, it's hard to say. We cannot tell people to behave this or that way, so everyone is free to speak. As long as these voices remain rare, I don't see a problem and I know how frustrating it is to be a Suikoden fan, so the anger is totally understandable.

Re: Suikoden Revival Movement
I dont think i am overly harsch or mean. I wrote a tweet to all Konami and Konami UK was the one that answered. I dont know what they are secretly planing but when they say that they had said a lot more they lied. To my they said zero. They answer my mails with a thank you. THat was not something i was asking for. A lot of big companys take care of their fans and have active discussion with them. Konami dont. They threat the fans as dirt and if you dont like Metal gear Solid you are not a Konami-fan. I know Konami UK have been better then the other parts of Konami but they still dont know how to speak to the fans. Yeah they did support SRM on their website, kudos to them but should people really need to create a group and gather just for some answers? When you tweet to other gamingcompanys they answer as fast as they can because they care about the fans and dont wont the company to look bad.
I also would like to add that i didnt say anything to Konami that was either bad for me, srm or konami themself. I didnt curse them about, threatning them or forced them to anything. I wanted my voice to get heard and i am pretty sure i was. And it was nothing wrong with that.
(sorry for really bad english, im writing on my pad and it is changing the spelling to swedish)

Well Square Enix and Sega have i personally been in touch with trough mail, and they gave me very good answes about the questions i asked and was very intrested in helping me.Antimatzist wrote: Name me one big Japanese company that does that!
Also Monolith Soft, Tri-Ace and Grasshopper Manufacture have a good history of talking to the fans and asking them questions about what the fans want.
