Konami wants to hear from you!
The admin of this site has been contacted by a Konami representative about promoting Tierkreis on this site. As a part of the promotion, they want to have us ask the Suikoden development team 20 questions. This is a rich opportunity, obviously... we have to make sure we ask answerable questions that also satisfy age-old questions.
For example, questions like "What is Pesmerga and Yuber's relationship" would likely just be brushed off, because it's one of those crucial questions to the core plot of Suikoden (or so said Murayama). Questions like "How did Rulodia end up inside the Tinto Mines" would be kind of too insignificant to ask as well.
Also, the current Suikoden development team may not know much about older sequels, such as Suikoden II, so questions centering on Suikoden stuff from recent games would likely get a better answer.
Questions like "Why did Murayama leave Konami" would obviously go unanswered as well, so don't ask that sort of question. I think a good question though would be "We like Fumi Ishikawa's artwork but do you plan to use her as an artist in future Suikodens?" because she does still work for Konami.
So please ask a bunch of questions in this thread. We will simply choose 20 of the ones that we think have the best chance getting answered, and send them over to Konami. The deadline will be coming up soon as the release date is almost upon us, so get those questions in quickly.
Note that Suikox is running a smiliar topic (and has had a similar request), so we will be working with them to avoid sending in duplicate questions.

Are the questions going to be answered by the Japanese development team?

How about this:
What is the thoughts on sprites used in Suikoden? A lot of people said that the series went downhill after Suikoden II mostly due to the game becoming 3D and no longer having the same feel in terms of art. And how do the developers feel about people ripping the sprites of the old games?

Yes, I borrowed his wording hence "similar" and "working with". Don't be an ass Raww, we put up with your attitude enough as it is.
They will be sent to the Japanese team. It's up to them which ones they end up answering.suikodian wrote:Are the questions going to be answered by the Japanese development team?

Re: Konami wants to hear from you!
How much time, they give us to ask questions?
Edit: Does they are promoted on other forums, other than this one and and suikox? (like japanese, french, spanish, deutsch, russian, italian forums... maximal cooperation could be nice).
reEdit:
Classic questions:
-The matilda glitch: does the devlopper were angry about this mistake or this look like a funny issue? Some people think that could be a volantar trick, instead of a glitch? Some gamer think that could be the problem source for lvl99 recruit of some characther. What about this?
-By different glitch, some tricky gamer think that suikoden II could have modified his storyline while the devlopement(recruit L.C. Chans in matilda). What was process, for the whole devlopement of this game?
-Does this kind of old game like suikoden 1 and 2 have any chance to become "open-source"?
-How about the thiekreis spin-off, those konami plan to make this as a new saga instead of the suikowolrd for the next generation gamers?

Re: Konami wants to hear from you!
1. What is stopping you from using another company to publish the series in the west? Konami of America/Europe failed to make a name of the series in the west. The lack of adequate promotion campaigns, the poor job at translation and the bad voice acting contributed to the low popularity of the series in the west. Konami of America/Europe are merely distribution companies that did not show interest in the series, you do not have to stick with them.
2. Why did you sit silently and did not do anything abut Suikoden III not making it to Europe? Suikoden III sold more than 375K units in Japan and was well received in the states yet Konami of Europe decided not to release it. Are not you concerned about the popularity of the series outside of Japan?

Oh, do ask about Fumi Ishikawa. I love her artwork and it'd be great to see her designing for Suikoden again!

Re: Konami wants to hear from you!
Is there any opportunity to see the release of Suikogaidens and/or Suiko Card Stories in america/europe?
i know they wont answer this one: is the direction Tierkries has taken indicative of the Future of the series, or is Tierkries truly only a spin off title, and we can expect the next game to return to the format we all know and love?

Re: Konami wants to hear from you!
Fumi Ishikawa has been creating artworks for the series though, with the latest being the covers for Suikoden Tierkreis Extra Soundtrack and that Suikoden II Radio Drama CD. She came up with Ramin's character design as well, and contributed artworks for Tierkreis' promotion. Either she is occupied with other works that the Suikoden team is not making her the chief designer anymore, or...?
Suikoden Tierkreis may be a spin-off, and a handful of fans may wish it be forgotten from the rest of the series, I think it also brings interesting elements to the series. I've played the game and see virtually no linkage to the main series despite the production team claiming that this is set in a parallel dimension. So, any plans to link Tierkreis' plot back to the future installment in the main series?
I noticed you've brought new composers to join Norikazu Miura in creating the sounds for Suikoden Tierkreis, but not Miki Higashino despite the team hinting at wanting to bring her back. Any immediate plan for this, like in the next game?
Why exactly did you decided against localising the PSP bundle of Suikoden I and II? If it's Japanese sales figures, then that's an unfair comparison, as Japan had the privilege of The Best versions of those PS1 titles and thus those games are more widely available there than in English markets.
This is a bit of a stretch, but: When are you planning to reveal Suikoden VI? Any hints? Which platform are you looking at the moment? What are you waiting for?

Re: Konami wants to hear from you!
Why didn't they do Suikoden 6?
When is a *proper* console version of Suikoden coming out?
Why didn't they do a proper Suikoden game?
Why did they abandon all the aspects of the series that made Suikoden .... Suikoden?
Will we ever see an English release of the Suikogaidens as DLC on PSN or Xbox Live?
Will we ever see an English release of the Suikoden I/II PSP port? Why wasn't it released in English territories?

A person from Konami USA contacted us so I have no clue if other sites have been contacted.BadPotato wrote:Does they are promoted on other forums, other than this one and and suikox? (like japanese, french, spanish, deutsch, russian, italian forums... maximal cooperation could be nice).
Here's a question: Have the fan sites influenced your ideas in designing the game in terms of story or gameplay? If so, how?

One more question:
Why do not you expand and complement the Suikoden plot with an anime series? The Japanese market has been shown strong interest in printed and mobile comics since the release of Suikoden V. Moreover, many Suikoden fans loved the anime introductions in Suikoden III and the gaidens.

Re: Konami wants to hear from you!
Will the original Suikoden universe still be expanded in future games and will Tierkreis, assuming it becomes a spinoff series, actually get to visit it in the future?
Will a non-promotional compilation of Suikoden songs finally be released commercially outside of Japan?
