The difference is that the FF VII version is already "enhanced" and the PC version, so porting might be easier? But I think it'd be money well spent if Konami fixed both games and made a pc port for it. Then they could still patch mistranslations etc, include trophies (for those who care) etc. Recently, J-RPGs on steam have been somewhat succesful (Valkyria Chronicles e.g.) and it's still a niche with high demand.Raww Le Klueze wrote:Well, now that Square-Enix has opened the door to releasing PS1 games as PS4 games (seriously, WTF?) with Final Fantasy VII, maybe if this does well Konami could do the same for Suikoden and thus be free to actually fix the translations and bugs plus trophies if they're so inclined.

Re: Time to beg Konami to bring Suikoden 2 to PSN
Considering they already have a PC build of the game in the case of the Chinese PC version, a PC re-release would largely come down to rebuilding it for modern instruction sets and some font hacking.
...Konami has been pretty tepid toward anything involving additional development efforts though, so fat chance of it following through. If we pestered them enough for a release of the source code that would be a different story, but that's even more unlikely for various legal reasons.

I doubt they'd had the original translation, though, and a translation from Chinese might not be sooo cool.

Nope, Konami is silent about it.
The PSN Store updates on a Wednesday in Europe, so they have 4 chances about it.Ii doubt it will come silently tomorrow, so maybe next week?
PEGI already tested the games:

Strangely, it says they have already been released. Most of the release dates are off (only Tactics is right, IV is one day off, the rest more).

There's not going to be any store update (aside from new sales) till the 14th so that's the earliest it could come.

It appears to now have been delayed to the first week in February. With not a word from Konami or Sony about it lest probed.

Arghh this makes me so mad. They also said it will be PSP compatible - something I will only believe when it's out.

It'll be released in PAL territories in February 4th. FInally, after nearly exactly 4 years, this topic can be closed then. (Ok, as I understand, Asian territory won't get it yet, but still!)

I wouldn't put it past the incompetence of the EU PSN staff to delay it another 4 weeks by then.

Heads up, Suikoden I and II are now available on the EU PSN ahead of the store update, no need to wait. €5 each.

There's been some reports that you can't download directly to the Vita in EU for some reason.

And Australia doesn't get the first game for.. reasons.
They say they work on Vita support, and I trust Konami on that, they seem to have fixed PSP support for Suikoden II today as well (can anybody confirm?)

There's a topic on gamefaqs that claims the PSP issue was indeed fixed.
