Out of curiosity, I was browsing a couple websites listed in profiles (we have some talented artists by the way! The pictures on the front page of this site are always very nice, as well). Someone had played something called a MUCK. I searched and found a telnet program for connecting to these... only problem is I can't seem to find one with any real activity going on. I tried 5 or 6 worlds and they were pretty much just members who have been idle for days.
I liked the inherent simplicity of the text based program, although maybe I could just try an MMORPG that's free. Anyone know any of these text-based ones or otherwise that are fairly popular with talkative denizens?
A MUCK ....

It stands for multi-user character kingdom, I think. You basically log on to a server with a client software package that uses telnet connections and you can play text based games with people. It's old school, and it's hard to find people.
