I would like to know what Unites people think are useful? I don't use unites often so it would actually be helpful information to me.

early game: Buddy Attack. obviously it's pretty overpowered, since it deals the normal damage of Riou and Jowy to all enemies and you can use this every turn.
however, Double Beat Runes are even more broken if you decide to collect a couple of these really early in the game, unites in general aren't as useful.

Kinnison + Shiro is somewhat useful since it can be used to hit a column and you can recruit them early.

If you happen to be using Oulan + Hanna, their unite is useful. But Hanna becomes pretty useless. Same goes for Tomo + Tsai, and the Manly Attack guys... they all have at least one member who I wouldn't bring on a normal basis.

Valeria + Anita as well as LC Chan + Wakaba kick some major butt, 3x damage unites... Valeria gets unbalanced but that's probably all they need to contribute in a boss battle.

One of the biggest benefits of having McDohl in the party is the Double Leader Attack, which replaces the Buddy Attack for the entire game.

the Servant Attack does major damage (4x dmg to 1) but it reduces Bolgan and Bob's HP. However, if you use the first turn to transform Bob into a werewolf and give him a Violence Rune, use the unite on turn 2 and on turn 3, he is Violenced with the werewolf stat boosts...

I spammed the Buddy attack, and I thought Nanami's family attack was good as well. However I just didn't see much use in Unites, sadly.

If you have the right loaded data from number one and you can get Mcdohl then do Double leader attack, it does like 1.5ish damage to all enemies.

Sorry .75 to all enemies, not 1.5

Warrior's Attack is good. No unbalance, and the "damage" Hix takes doesn't even reach two digits, I think. And it gets better as the battle goes on because of the *Exertion permanently attached to Hix's weapon. *Double-strike on Hix, then *Fury/*Double-strike on Tengaar. MAD damage by Turn 5.

Also, may I just comment that for the past two Suikoden games (IV and V; Tactics Combos were pretty useful too), Unites have not been as use-worthy as the ones in the first three games. At least Suikoden III had that awesome "Thomas gets his sword stuck on the enemy resulting in 3x damage" thing...

Oops, I should explain myself better. I mean I don't normally use combos in Suikoden 1-3 Suikoden 4 and Tactics I used combos TO MUCH, and Suikoden 5 I've only played through once but I can say I used combos a bit in that to.

Who is the combo with Thomas were he gets hsi sword stuck? Cecil??

just want to share this hilarious unite attack.
firstly, go get a dog whistle... equip it to either gabotcha or gengen, then use the kobold attack, keep using it until you chance upon an alternative attack that includes a whole ARMY of kobolds rushing into battle. it's powerful, funny and technically THE highest number of characters you get to join in a unite attack.

-you can win the whistle in the rope-climbing minigame at the laundry area of the castle. a part often unexplored in the game. its just dead ahead the glass panels outside the restaurant.

Oh you have to have to dog whistle? Maybe that's why they stopped the army rush for me...I thought it was just a chance that you could get it, anyways I always loved that attack.

You do NOT need the dog whistle to do that attack, I did it completly by accedent, and I know I didn't have the item equipt.

3x unites by Valeria/Anita and Wakaba/LC Chan are the best single target hands down

all target unites would have to be the Buddy Attack and Dbl Leader Attack

... Simone and Vincent unite?

was it 1x all target as well?

What about Viktor/Flik?

Seriously, I found using normal attacks with Hero and McDohl, both with Double-Beat runes, to be better than the Leader attack.

But Riou or Tir would be better than Shiro with a Fury and a double beat. They have an extra open runeslot, and can equip some power-ups, like ring of strength, or fire emblems. Also they have powerful weapons. Shiro isn't even near them.

The greatest unite for me is flash attack. It deals a lot of damage to the random enemies, which is very very useful.

Flash Attack is one of the best unites, but i don't think the characters involved are popular choices for party members.

I guess I'm a bit weird when it comes to choosing people for my party. I like those strange, not that strong characters that can be made very strong.
