PSVITA Transfer Suiko1 save file to Suiko2

I have read several posts on various forums explaining how to transfer the Suikoden 1 save file into the Suikoden 2 memory card, so that you can get the McDohl side quest, but try as I may, I cannot get the game to register the other save file.

To be clear, I purchased Suikoden 1 on the PSN for my PSVita, collected all 108 stars, completed the game and saved in Gregminster. I have opened the settings in Suikoden 2, and changed the memory card so that the Suikoden 1 files are on the Suikoden 2 memory cards, but nothing seems to work. I keep reading on different forums about people clearing up this issue, and it works for them, so why isn't this working for me?
