Are there any monsters in Liukan's hermitage area?

If you exit Liukan's hermitage without a boat,you can walk in a small area outside. I walked around for about 4-5 mins,but i didn't came across any monster...so are there really no monsters,or it was just pure luck that i didn't encounter one?

I think it's confirmed, Suikoden 1 had a ridiculously high encounter rate. There must be something wrong if you didn't encounter enemies after 5 minutes

Yep, I believe there is none. I tried walking there for quite some time and no encounters at all.

And it was the easiest trial ever. THat game was far too easy. THere should have been an entire dungeon instead of an half-assed bossfight...
