Weapon rune pieces

When adding a a rune piece to a character's weapon, will the modified stat stay permanent if you add a different rune in it's place? I noticed that when giving Viktor a Wind rune piece, and then a Thunder rune piece, the Wind rune piece disappears. Did I just get screwed out of a Wind piece?

they are not stats stone but more like disposable weapon runes which overwrite each other upon switching around. Only the active pieces will have their effects counted so yea, you wasted your previous & precious pieces.
