Shining thing in castle basement...

What is that shining thing in the very basement of the castle, just below and to the left of where Hellion and Viki are? It looks like a cut out where you can see the sea underneath but I've never understood what it's actually meant to be. I realise it's just for show, but what the hell is it?

General consensus seems to be that it has something to do with Viki's magic or was originally intended to be a healing mechanism. Just something they left unfinished to make us wonder lol

Kinda makes me think of that invisible rock near where you find Maxine in the field in IV.
