Thanks for the recommendation. For now I'm just writing new topics here and answering questions on gamefaqs.com.

CelesDestiny wrote:Actually, HP is not capped at 999, as the stat growth charts lists it. Four characters can break the 3-digit limit, which is unique in the suikoden history so far:

Max HP at Lv 99:
Fu Su Lu (944-1100)
Kasim (822-1018)
Pahn (824-1020)
Pesmerga (940-1096)

The stat growth chart now lists the correct max. HP values for these chars.

I started training several chars yesterday and a few were level 34.
And my luc of level 34 became a 95 against a whipmaster and 5 dogs... Thats 61 levels in one time.
So the 60 level max boost limit was broken.
I didnt't try to fight again against the most exp giving party, but it made me wonder if you could gain more levels if you fought them at level 34. Also lucs magic went through the roof, as he got 260 magic points and a 9/9/9/9 in spells.
It appears that in suikoden all stats can exceed 999 hp or 255 in stats.
Can somebody confirm..?

That's pretty odd because a monster can't give more than 10.000 XP to the team, so 60.000 (i.e 60 levels) for 6 monsters.

With a lot of test I found the XP reward table for monsters, and that never pass 10.000.

With this table, I'm getting monster levels (almost done but I have to restart game to determine boss, unique fights, toran castle and some very weak monster like Holly Boy from Great Forest, Mt Seifu and Tigerwolf ones)

I based these levels with Holly Boy from Magician Island as level 1, because it's the weakest monster.

Let's suppose, a monster level X
Here are the xp your team will gain (from the point of view of one character like Luc) :

Luc lvl = X-13 (and less) : 10.000
Luc lvl = X-12 : 9.700
Luc lvl = X-11 : 9.300
Luc lvl = X-10 : 9.000
Luc lvl = X-9 : 8.500
Luc lvl = X-8 : 8.000
Luc lvl = X-7 : 7.500
Luc lvl = X-6 : 6.900
Luc lvl = X-5 : 6.000
Luc lvl = X-4 : 5.100
Luc lvl = X-3 : 3.900
Luc lvl = X-2 : 2.600
Luc lvl = X-1 : 1.600
Luc lvl = X : 900 (it's the base because Holly Boy gives 900 xp to a character level 1, so it can't give more. And that's pretty consistant : Just less than 1 level, and before a big gap with the next value which is 400 xp)
Luc lvl = X+1 : 400
Luc lvl = X+2 : 200
Luc lvl = X+3 : 160
Luc lvl = X+4 : 120
Luc lvl = X+5 : 90
Luc lvl = X+6 : 70
Luc lvl = X+7 : 50
Luc lvl = X+8 : 30
Luc lvl = X+9 : 20
Luc lvl = X+10 : 15
Luc lvl = X+11 : 10
Luc lvl = X+12 : 5
Luc lvl = X+13 (and more) : 0 (but a fight still gives 5 xp minimum)

With my calculation, Hell Hound is lvl 48 and Whip Master is lvl 49
So if Luc is level 34, He's :
(Hell Hound Level - 14) so 10.000 for each Hell Hound
(Whip Master Level - 15) so 10.000 for the Whip Master

It's 60.000 XP, divided by 2 (because of Tir McDohl and Luc in the team), it's 30.000 multiplied by 2 from fortune rune, it's 60.000.

Now, if you want my "in working" monster level list, just ask...

EDIT :
And for stats (PWR,SKL,DEF,SPD,MAG,LCK), I'd say base can't exceed 255 (maybe I'm wrong but I guess that could create issue with save). But maybe your Luc is wearing a +MAG item ?

Now the thing to ask is : true PSOne, PSP, Saturn or Emulator ? Original Game or patched one ? (I say that because french translation patch bugged game and you could raise weapon to lvl 17... which was actually level 1 stat...)

So I'm not telling you're wrong but I think it's not possible with original game on Playstation.

Someone posted a similar list for EXP calculation in S2 in this thread. My calculations are based on it. The exp distribution the same, except for the "invisble" levels of the enemies. The strategy guide lists the enemy Lv for S2, and the list fits here, so I suppose it works the same way for S1. You just had to adjust your level's by 2, which makes the Holly Boy Lv 3.

EXP are worked out for each char on it's own.

The formular for S1 is:
Total EXP += EXP (based on your lv) for each enemy
Total EXP = Total EXP / Number of party members
if (Total EXP < 5) then TOTAL EXP = 5
if (Fortune rune equipped) then TOTAL EXP * 2

The formular for S2 is:
Total EXP += EXP (based on your lv) for each enemy
Total EXP = Total EXP / Number of party members alive
if (Total EXP < 5) then TOTAL EXP = 5
if (Fortune rune equipped) then TOTAL EXP * 2

Therefor, the Fortune Rune trick is much easier in S2.

In theory the max EXP is 120.000. 1 party member with Fortune rune and 6 enemies which are 15 lv superior than you. That cannot be done here, because it would require a Fortune Rune on McDohl. When you are able to equip it on McDohl alone (at the very beginning), there are no enemies with the required lv. Tested: The best group of enemies are 6x Slasher Rabbit on Mt. Tigerwolf that are around ~7-9 lv superior than you.

So obviously, 60.000 EXP are the max with a two-man party. Refer to my post on the first page for further details.

@Ellyos: A complete list for the enemies' lv for be a great contribution :) But please open a new topic for that, as this one is mainly for the level building.

@True Griever: 255 is max for all base stats. Bonuses given by equipment and/or runes may exceed this limit.

my luc is lv 99 now and has 264 mag
He is equipped with a cyclone rune but to my knowing that didn't give extra mp.
And he has no equipment improving his stats.
I'm not lying about this or anything
And also I did go up 61 levels.
Perhaps we need some further testing, because according to my gaming experience, you're facts proved usefull yet not entirely true

Luc is equipped with Guard Robe which give +15 MAG. So that explains the 264. (264 - 15 = 249 base).

For the 61 levels in one row, I just can't tell you how...

There is no way to get Max boost of stats at every lv up without manipulating(save/reload at every single lv up). Well if anyone of you know a way to get Max HP with power leveling please let me know.

I don't think there is a "regular" way to obtain max stats with power leveling.
