Rune of Punishment after SIV/Tactics Events

Postby bluemask » Sun Oct 15, 2017 9:54 am

Is it possible the Rune could have winded up somewhere or Lazlo is still alive during the period of other Suikoden Timelines?
And.. in case he wasn't. Shouldn't the Rune be wrecking havoc in the Island Nations by that time (well.. unless he traveled to somewhere farther of couse.)

I think we're to assume Lazlo still has it in its "atonement" state, so he'll have stayed young being a true rune bearer, while everyone else he knew grew old, had babies and died.

Of course we're not really going to know what happened until Konami creates a new Suikoden game that features the Rune of Punishment during a different timeline.

As long as Razro didn't die or got rid of the rune, he still bears it and it's in its atonement phase.

If he, however, would lose it, it would go back to its pre-SUikoden-IV state.

But whatever.

I guess another possibility is that Lazlo becomes Lino's heir (Kika suggests this during an in-battle dialogue in Tactics) and ends up ruling Obel and leading the Island Nations, which is usually the right of Tenkai Stars to become leaders of the nations they've liberated/unified.

And maybe Lazlo eventually finds a way to remove the ROP from his body and has it sealed in the Ruins of Obel.

I think it's quite possible. Although I don't consider the Card Game as a canonical reference, Lazlo's card have him wearing some Island Nation-y Imperial clothing.

And maybe that was the inspiration for Yahr in Suikoden 5.

Even as Lino's heir, he still bears the Rune. It also doesn't mean he becomes the leader of the entire Island nations.

It would be cool if he reigned Obel for decades, retires and moves into the ruins.

And expire or become the hungry guardian beast waiting to devour anyone who dare enters the dark dwellings.

Well the Rune of Punishment rejected Graham Cray when he tried to reclaim it, so it seems happy to be attached to Lazlo's body. So I guess it depends on the rune's mood swings. Maybe as wars continue to break out across the world, the ROP decides it wants to come out of hiding and start going on a destructive rampage again.

Oh yeah, come to think of it... Is there any little plot details that proved Runes might have personalities when not in the hands of a bearer?

Star Dragon Sword? He seems pretty pissed when Viktor abandons him in a dark cave...

Depend on how and where he would lose it. He could lose it on another deseted island so the rune can't go anywhere. Or he could lose it at Obel city center (the worst scenario) then we'll have a huge party then.

And why he would try to remove the rune? The rune is in it forgiveness state, he can freely use the rune without any drawback whatsoever.
