when it comes to wepon defence and pary its realted to if you have defence equiped as a skill and what level it is, well that is more than when they naturally have. I don't know if haveing a better thrust would make you defend/parry thrust atacks better but instead make you take less damage. whereas haveing defence equiped at a high level would make you defend/parry it better. I haven't tested it, this is just my interpritation.
