I noticed during the game when you autocombat no one will attack backrow enemies even when they can be manually targetted this some kind of oversight by the programmers or ya think intentional ?

not true
if you go to options you can set your auto target to either attack randomly, enemy with lowest health or enemy with highest health. 3 options for auto target
if you were to manually attack a character in the back row and not attack anyone else, if you had auto target set to weakest then the would attack that character in the back row
and L range characters attack in the back row if auto target is random, dont forget that it is RANDOM
also, some formations can change alot of things, its my experience that when my S range character are in circle formation the attack the back row every now and then{when its random}
