Story skip bug + keep Shoon in party
I don't know if this is cheating, but I found a bug yesterday to keep Shoon in the party without being able to take him out. First reach the part in stormfest where you chase the armes soldiers to through the forest. Then instead of fighting them head north to the shack and the back road trough the trees to the entrance of the forest. Then head to the western palace and go to where they would have kept the Twilight rune. All the sudden the game thinks your past all the stormfest story and you in the east palace.
Shoon will stay in your party without being able to take he out. I got up to the first war in Rainwall, but I did not bother to continue past that.

Re: Cheating (please help)?
wow that is pretty interesting. this bug/glitch speeds up going through the beginning faster and you get to keep Shoon (for a while at least)?? i might be willing to check this out!

I'd be curious if he gets any more dialogue like if you get someone early in SII that you're not supposed to have yet.

Just checking - would this be the part when you first get Shoon and have to run through the underground passage? If so there is no way to run past the 5 Armes soldiers standing there...

Yes that part. Try not to get close to them head north to where the shack where you try to rescue Marina with Belcoot. Then go through the forest path.

EDIT: Ignore what I just said,I misread it.
I stuck to the north side as much as possible and the cutscene triggered anyway?

The screen fades out and you're standing there facing them and they're all like Rarrr and then fight you.

No, I stayed as far away from them as the road would allow. But it still skipped to the fight.

Re: Story skip bug + keep Shoon in party
I just tried it again and I'm getting the same thing your getting. I'll keep trying until I can recreate it. Never mind this, sorry for getting peoples hopes up. Its must of been a fluke that I got past them the first time. I can't recreate what happened. All I did last time was just walk right past the arms soldiers, but now every time I try too past them the characters either walk back towards them or the screen fads to black and the cut scene begins.
