[FAQ] Which characters can die in War Battles?

I'm sure there was a topic about that here, but somehow I can't find it..

Additionally, I want to know the following: I know that if certain characters die in War Battles, others "die"/disappear too (e.g. if Belcoot dies, Marina will be gone as well). Is there a list of these characters?

a similar question was asked on Gamefaqs, phrasing it instead as which characters can't die in wars.
basically it boiled down to this:

Prince, Lyon, Zerase, Lucretia, Sialeeds, Miakis, Galleon, Georg, Kyle, Lelei, Raga, Boz, Zweig are definitely not going to die with several others possibly being immune to death, or at least more resistant to it(more likely to flee). these characters primarily come from the auto-recruited chars. Any other chars are non-essential so they could die without any storyline problems(well, you'd get a worse ending)

I've never heard about characters leaving if others die(I've never had a single casualty in a war), but my guess is that would hold for most characters that come in pairs or groups, and certainly a character's death might preclude the recruitment of a later character.

So it is safe assume that story characters that advance the story will not die in war battles, that other characters are pretty much fair game?

that's how it worked in suikoden tactics. no reason to think it wouldn't apply here as well.

This hasn't happened to me (I always reset if anyone happens to die accidentally) but I remember reading here that someone lost Belcoot in a war battle and Marina ended up leaving the castle because of it, so that does happen. Other than that combo, I don't know of any others, though.

Yeah that's my problem, too: I never lost a character in SV's war battles, so I don't know it...

This topic may be old...but it deserves a re-dig.

I'd like to know which characters are more easy to die in combat? Sure,characters like Boz,Luserina,Kyle,etc cannot die in combat of course,because they are plot-characters.

From my game,Nakula has died once in combat whilst he was a commander,and Ernst has died twice.

If Belcoot dies you lose Hazuki and Marina. If Norma or Ernst die, their partner leaves. Same with Isabel and Mathias.

I have no idea. I think the answer would most likely be no, but I've never tried it out to see. It would be interesting if you could.
