The Gaiden's take place, I do believe, during SII through Nash's POV

Gaiden Vol 1 took place at the same time as Suikoden II.

Gaiden Vol 2 took place around 6+ months after the end of that war.

Umm... I think Kyril couldn't get over the loss of his father and that's why his skills and strength went downhill for 3 years. I doubt he was sick for 3 years lol. It's deep depression and stuff like that.
