Still too late to get Karl?

Okay, so I beat that one mission where Karl helps you rescue those children or whatever but I didn't talk to him during the battle so he didn't join... did I miss my opportunity to recruit him?

yup, the only way to recruit him is to talk to him, specifically with kyrill and you also have to make sure none of the kids die

and that battle is the only place you can recruit him

so sorry

The kids dying doesn't affect recruiting Karl; you will undoubtedly fail the mission, but Karl will still be recruited. I accidentally let one of the kids die the last time through and Karl still stayed on my team.
