Re: [FAQ] Obel Ruins

Post by Princess Flare »

I am currently trying to complete the quest to find the Ancient Parchment. I know its on Level 4 as I found it once but I got unlucky and didn't survive and got kicked out. I've been back now 5 times and I have used my Rene with A rank Treasure Hunt after clearing out th3 mobs and have never round another. Does this parchment show up 100% or is the dig spot random for it? I also wondered if I screwed it up by having found it but dying. I thought this would be the place to get some confirmation as while I've taken advantage of the number of runs to clean up on dragons I'd like to find this POS so I can unlock the next quests.

Is it maybe possible that every treasure in the Obel Ruins can only be dug once? I'm clearing the Ruins for all S-Ranks, so I have done them six times by now, and I don't seem to be getting any treasures in the levels where I dug out a lot of treasures.

Can anyone confirm that or is it maybe something like:
- When you visit the map for the first time (in the right setting), you'll dig the treasure with a chance of 100%
- Every time after that, there's a random chance to dig sth.

I especially notice it at level 3 at the pile of rubbish: normally, there should be a treasure there, but I don't find anything. And now I walked all on Level 5 and there's nothing!

What do you mean by unique? These Ancient Dish etc things?

I'm speaking of regular items that you can dig. I think I made the same experience on regular hunting spots, after I fought on them some times and dug out some treasures, I couldn't find any more in later battles.

I'm just wondering, because Dig Spots are always fixed in every map setup. The Obel Ruins have 2-3 setups for every level, so that's 2-3 different dig spot locations per level. I guess most people don't bother digging out every treasure on every level, so they won't notice this.

I dug out every treasure on level 4 already and iirc in my later runthroughs, there were no more treasures there as well.

I guess it makes sense, you don't actually need any dig item more than once (you can get stuff like diamonds and platinum from enemies) and that'd make the rare runes like Prosperity and Fortune even rarer - even unique. So I'm asking this board, even though I guess most people don't go that in-depth with the game.

there are no random treasures in the game. every map has a few variations, and once you've dug up the item on that variation of the map you won't find something else in its place next time you hit that version again.

Ok, thank you! I didn't find any information on this matter, but thanks for clarifying this.

I think i dug up all the Obel-Ruins except the first level, most of the Elemental Chambers - and Level 5. In all my playthroughs, I never saw the second version of Level 5...

correction:
- Flowing chamber set A (3 dragons) HAS 1 element, its starting position is 2 squares left from the chest in the center. It's no use for Rene, because there are no dig items (I can confirm).
- Thunder chamber A has 4 skeleton bows, not 2

completion:
- Rage chamber D (quest) has mercenaries + 1 dragon + 1 element
- Flowing chamber D (quest) has mercenaries + 2 flying lizards + 1 skeleton bow + 1 skeleton sword
- Floor 5 Set "C" (without Golems or reinforcements): the 3 chests from left to right contain prime gold ore, giant crab shell, platinum

I was very unlucky in Flowing chamber A: a dragon attacked me with its normal area attack and not only killed the element, but also destroyed a chest between me and the dragon. I immediately restarted the battle. But just in case, are chests destroyed by enemies gone for good?

I once made a list with all dig items and chests hat I found - of course, I was an idiot and forgot to not0 ethe exact configurations. But I guess your other dig spots and chests are accurate - and these were the items that were missing.

Floor 1 B dig should be Porcupine Cape

You can dig a Drain orb at Level 2B. I think there is no chest.

3B should be
Chest: Godspeed Anklet
Dig: Wing Shield

Never had any other Level 4 configuration than you had...

@Antimatzist: Thanks! I remember there was a 2. floor configuration with 2 chests at the exit, so it must be 2C, but I don't remember their content. As for 4B iirc there were 2 digs, and one of them was Ranger Gloves, but I'm not 100% sure.

@gildedtalon: Thanks, support is always great! Please try to get the missing configuration of floor 5.I (please reset if you land on another one). It's the one with a golem in the very northwestern corner, and the chest containing the Cape of Darkness. In your last game you said you didn't enter the ruins; in this case you don't even need to start a new game, just load an existing file. Other than that we need missing information on floors 1B, 2C, and 4B (see above).

Yes, I haven't entered the ruins at all, I'll make a backup save before checking all these to make sure I won't miss a thing
