An odd question about S4 and Tactics

I know that you can get the Hero from S4 on Tactics and I really love that. xD But that isn't the small problem I have.

I was reading his profile on this site since I really love him... and the Prince from 5.. >_> And well it says that Li... the hero (sorry I can't remember how to spell his name on here but on the game, I named him Alex.), dies at the end of 4...

Here's the question:

How is he dead in S4 if you can get him in Tactics?

Plus... I don't really like the idea of his rune killing him at the end... it like kills my fanfics that I keep thinking of doing.... (I play Suikoden too much)

It doesn't say he died, it says he was put in a funeral boat and cast out to sea. As you play the game you'll notice that he wakes up again.
