What's a tambo?
here's your answer
Wikipedia wrote:It is a light, evenly balanced stick measuring two to three feet and made of bamboo or wood. A martial artist cuts a tambo to fit his or her size. The length is determined by measuring from the hip socket to the top of the ankle. This length ensures that the tambo can be swung freely without hitting the floor.
I vote for a giant boomerang that the hero can use as a melee weapon and a long range weapon.

or maybe a circle thing like a chackram but the hero spins it around his/her hand and attacks the enemy like that.

or maybe dual melee chackrams.

or a ball on a string.

a whip sounds like a good idea as well.

I miss the Twin Fangs.

I want his/her weapons made of wood/metal or any material that doesn't cut, like Riou and Frey's since blades look too violent and dull weapons like Riou and Frey's look very more of like a weapon for a hero.
I will bring Lordlake's fate... to the entire Suikoden World! weeeeeeh!

Looking Up Okinawan Weaponry I came across one that was used only once before by another, lesser charactor. Its the Eku or an oar thats unusual right.

The main character should look the part if he were to use katars.

This is what next Suiko protagonist should look like

If he uses long-range weapons, he should either wield a 1800's era Gatling gun that you have to crank to fire, or a miniature nuclear warhead hidden in a backpack.

Swordchucks, YO!

Okay, in all seriousness, though, I agree with the with two things:

Eventually we need a main character with the Star Dragon Sword
And we should have a character wield a polearm of sorts, perhaps a glaive or naginata.

Why not break the mold and go for a hero with a huge two handed battle axe? Or a girl with a bow? Or a couple of sais like Raphael (yes the turtle).

As a girl, I would love to see a female Tenkai for once, rather than just a feminine guy. But I think, if we go with the pattern of non-traditional, oriental style weapons, that eventually we'll see a Tenkai wielding a kusarigama or a manrikigusari. They're traditional weapons that require some martial arts knowledge to use as truly intended.

or Kama. very similar to the top one but without the chain. Generally chains are considered evil...don't ask me why but usually evil character wield weapons with chains.

The Kusarigama would be cool. It reminds me of Kohaku from Inuyasha.

I still think a member of the howling voice guild wielding a sturdy gun would be a great protaganist.

I have to disagree. The reason being if you start out in Harmonia then chances are you'll be rebelling against and overthrowing Harmonia and that just ain't going to happen anytime soon.

A 2x4 with a nail through it would be pretty 1337.
