On the other hand, some suikoden 2 characters could have joined Highland (Humphrey, Futch, Wakaba, Tony among others) as well.

in a nutshell it would a "what if..." suikoden. Sounds good to me.
It can reach 108 characters with enough countries to ally with Highland. Okay, let's see:

- Highland Kingdom

- Jowy (S, Black Sword) - Hero Star
- Agares (NP) - Leader Star
- Seed (S, Water)
- Culgan (S, Thunder Sword)
- Luca (S, Rage Sword) - Great Sword Star *too bad we can't use him for long*
- Han (S) - General Star
- Jillia (NP)
- Pilika (NP) - recruitable post-Luca (?)
- Kiba
- Klaus - Secondary Strategist

- The Karaya Clan

- Lucia (Rage)
- Beechum (?)
- Jimba (Flowing)
- some other Karayans

- Harmonians

- Sasarai (S, Earth) - Tablet Guardian
- Nash (anyone?)
- Cathari (anyone?)
- Clive and Elza (Yes, you can play both of them!)
- Geddoe (Lightning)
- Chris (Phoenix) - doubtful
- Duke
- Ace
- Estela

- Toran

- Kage + some other ninjas
- Leon (NP) - Main Strategist
- Milich - "The Narcissist"

- Possible Defectees from Dunan

- Rikimaru (if recruited earlier)
- Zamza (if recruited earlier)
- Millie
- Teresa
- Shin

There are still others I haven't included yet.
It's not all about knowledge, but it helps.

What about Yuber? He should be included into one of 108 Stars as he were in Suikoden III

I can't see Teresa and Shin ever joining Highland, i mean Jowy tries to kill her at the "peace conference". I would like to see people like Lena Sulphina and Clant join Jowy. Hmmm who else...?

I think it's a cool idea, although as stated above, we have seen lot's of Jowy's side of view. I think for it to actually work however, would to be if they made a remake or put Suikoden II on PSN and added a feature where you could play as Jowy and maybe even add more things to the game....or they could make a spin off or an alternative version where you do play as Jowy, but it's completely different and we learn about many things that were never seen in Suikoden II or Suikogaiden.

Interesting idea!

I do believe Neclord should be on that list too xD

And if you like, you could add additional events you may not have seen from Riou's PoV.

Perhaps they're attacked by Wyatt Lightfellow's Zexen knights due to the Karayans they're harboring.

Maybe Luca's power goes to his head and leads an unsuccessful campaign against Dunan that pits you against their generals.

Since Mazus is on one side, it may not to be too difficult to convince Crowley to join yours. And perhaps a young Estella accompanies him, and you can build whatever storyline you want with that. (Would be interesting if Rody is his grandson and Estella is Rody's personal tutor). Maybe he will also bring along his third student, Piccolo.

There seems to be a lot of downtime in the Highland Army while you're fighting Neclord, saving Bright, or running around the glove getting Tengaar's fake relief items. Jowy and Luca could be up to anything.

Well, we know a relative amount of things that goes on over at the highland side, so they would need to make the new segment fit with what's already there or it will stick out like a sore thumb.

Hmmm...let's see how it would be:

Tenkai: Jowy
Tengou: Sasarai
Tenki: Han (although Leon is the chief strategist, but Leon has already has,his own star,so he cannot be a Tenki...let's say, that Han should be the secondary strategist and their stars are switched)
Tenyu: Yuber
Teni: Lucia
Tenei: Jillia
Tenritsu: Rowd
Tenjyu: Pilika
Chikai: Leon
Chiki: Seed
Chimou: Culgan

Solon,Luca and Agares would be non-stars,because they will die at some point...and Kiba and Klaus will turn traitorous.

We've had stars die on us and still stay on the tablet. Kiba in Suikoden II, that sacrifice girl in Suikoden III.

Jowy would probably try to recruit Neclord also

What makes you say that? I believe Jowy would see him as the untrustworthy monster that he is and would probably be quicker to help Riou kill him.

It might be more interesting to have the game to play out as an alternate story to Riou's path. If there can only be one set of stars of destiny at one time why not rerelease Suikoden 2 with an option of which character you play as when the two friends dive off the waterfall and are separated at the beginning?

Riou's story would play out pretty much the same as the original game with perhaps a few upgrades but Jowy's story would follow his rise in Highland and eventually have them winning the Dunan region instead of the city states. In essence a 'what if Jowy won the war' type game.

Yeah, that was in S3,which was different than the other Suikodens.

Note, that Kiba died AFTER Leknaat appears in your HQ,giving you the 4th spell of the Bright Shield Rune...by the time you had full power of the rune, you had 108/108. On the other hand,Solon,Luca and Agares died way before completing the game.

Leknaat has already resurrected Gremio,so she cannot resurrect another person again. So how it would be? You are supposed to have 108/108 stars alive to get the good ending...and if these 3 were SoD,we would have 3 dead stars.

Wow,it would be nice to play as Neclord. After all he could lead a sorcery unit in war battles, because highland army had no sorcery units (Sasarai should, but i wonder why they made him lead an infantry one, anyway)

It would be nice, but having one set of stars of destiny to both sides,is impossible.
I mean,it would be impossible to have characters like Shu,Viktor,Flik or Teresa in Jowy's side. Although non-plot based characters like Zamza,Rikimaru or Millie could be in Jowy's side.

I'm talking about if Leknaat only gave the Tablet of Promise to Jowy and not Riou, in an parallel timeframe/universe sort of thing. It wouldn't be considered canon but would act how the other multiple paths work in the games. Like when Riou runs away in Tinto or when given the choice who accepts the role of the Flame Champion.

Shu probably wouldn't join Jowy because Jowy already has Leon as his tactician. Viktor and Flik wouldn't join Jowy either because Jowy assassinated Annabelle. Teresa could possible be brought around to Highlands side but Jowy would have his own stars Lucia instead of Persmerga, Seed and Culgan in exchange for Flik and Viktor, Yuber in place of Hauser for example.

Yeah, it won't be easy to fix tons of extra characters and flesh them out for just a spin-off game.

Suikoden III might be different, but it's still Suikoden, and a numbered one at that.
