Anyone who managed to get a Poisonous Mint?

I followed this formula here for Poisonous Mint:

But I had Sleep Mint instead.

I got every different kind of Mushroom/Mint except the Poisonous Mint. Anyone?

I found the correct formula for Poisonous Mint.

It's 1,3,2,2,2 in all stages. Sure there might be a few others too but "1,3,2,2,2" is one of them.

Perhaps this was the problem?

I have no idea what I used before the "1,3,2,2,2" sequence, but perhaps I will give it a try to follow the sequence in Watermoon's old post as the first attempt to make a mint.

Indeed. I followed the same pattern and I got a Mysterious Mint (in a different playthrough).

So you have to keep track of your scores the whole time.

Not as often as I used to be, but I still come back from time to time.

Celes is correct, you have to keep track of your scores. It's kind of a hassle, but simple basic math. I haven't played 4 in a while, so I couldn't tell you offhand which couple sets of answers I would typically use to keep it in that range (if I didn't in the guide, I honestly forget), but I do remember that being an issue. I'll take a look at it when I get the chance and see if I can tell you what it was that I used.

If I remember correctly, they count as an infantry unit.

Did you try the 1,1,1,1,1 or A, A, A, A, A (as I listed it initially) during the sleep phase? I always shot for just plain mint/mushrooms because I didn't want to put a status effect on myself. By your numbered system, for mushrooms, the way I worked it would have been:

Spore: 2,1,2,1,3
Develop: 1,1,3,1,1
Harvest: 2,2,2,2,2
Sleep: 1,1,1,1,1

Since you're aiming for poisonous, I'd shoot for something like:

Spores: 1,2,2,2,2 (23 points)
Develop: 1,2,2,2,2 (32 points, total of 55)
Harvest: 3,1,3,3,1 (43 points, total of 98)

That should give a poisonous mushroom, and then if it worked (can't remember confirming or not) use 1,1,1,1,1 for sleep phase.

For mint, it would be:

Seeds: 1,3,1,3,3 (19 points)
Develop: 2,3,2,2,1 (36 points, total of 55)
Harvest: 1,1,1,3,1 (40 points, total of 95)

That should result in a poisonous mint, and then again use all 1's on sleep phase to reset. Since I can't remember confirming the sleep phase reset working or not, let me take a couple days to pull up a fresh game of 4, not even NG+ (unless you're running on NG+ and need help there, I like to keep as many variables the same as possible), and I'll get back to you with if this works or not.

Let me know, and I'll get it going shortly. Probably need to wait until Thursday afternoon to get started on it as I'm rather busy until then, so if you can see this and respond by then, it would help a lot.

Ok, doing a bit of back and forth with it while I work on stuff for school and about to start prepping and then making dinner, but I've already done a full cycle of mint from an existing old save (checking on the other question about Nay-Kobolds as a unit during the battle minigame), and have confirmed that the listing I gave above works for poison mint.

Have not confirmed the reset during the sleep stage (I think Nao calls it rest while Mao calls it sleep), but I'm gonna go ahead and guess that that will work as well, seeing as I started this playthrough near the end of the game (it's about 2 hours before my completed save, has all 108 stars) where all I've made is plain mushrooms and I just got a poison mint on the first try. Maybe I'll get lucky and get all of the three runs done tonight before dinner and can give you more info.

Ok, got through running this quick trial. Got poisonous mint twice in a row and the third time activated the war battle, so that pattern seems to work if you want poisonous mint (for whatever reason).

And in answer to the other question asked, yes, the Nay-Kobolds do make up an infantry (Charge) unit, called Nay-Kobold with an attack value of 12, as Antimatzist stated.

Anyone else need help figuring out how to get a specific type of mint/mushroom? It does look like the first selection for each category of the rest/sleep phase resets, so it's basic math. I know my charts came out kind of ugly here as my formatting from the word document didn't carry over very well. I'll try to figure out a way to make a pretty bit of formatting for them here to make it clearer for folks in the future.

Testing out a new formatting method to see if it makes reading the charts I made easier. Here's the mushrooms chart, broken down into which phase you're in.

Spores Phase
Question 1: A / B / C – 3 / 0 / -4
Question 2: A / B / C – -1 / 7 / -8
Question 3: A / B / C – -4 / 4 / -1
Question 4: A / B / C – 2 / 6 / -3
Question 5: A / B / C – -6 / 3 / 0

Develop Phase
Question 1: A / B / C – 12 / 1 / -9
Question 2: A / B / C – -6 / 5 / -2
Question 3: A / B / C – -3 / 5 / -1
Question 4: A / B / C – 1 / 6 / -3
Question 5: A / B / C – -6 / 4 / 1
Harvest Phase
Question 1: A / B / C – -9 / -1 / 6
Question 2: A / B / C – 9 / 1 / -6
Question 3: A / B / C – -6 / 1 / 8
Question 4: A / B / C – -12 / -1 / 8
Question 5: A / B / C – 12 / 0 / -6

And here's the mint chart.

Seeds Phase
Question 1: A / B /C – 6 / 0 / -7
Question 2: A / B /C – -8 / -6 / 1
Question 3: A / B /C – 4 / 3 / 0
Question 4: A / B /C – -3 / -5 / 5
Question 5: A / B /C – -4 / 0 / 3

Growth Phase
Question 1: A / B /C – -7 / 4 / 1
Question 2: A / B /C – -10 / 1 / 12
Question 3: A / B /C – -4 / 5 / 1
Question 4: A / B /C – 0 / 9 / -12
Question 5: A / B /C – 6 / -1 / 3

Harvest Phase
Question 1: A / B /C – 9 / 1 / -12
Question 2: A / B /C – 8 / 2 / -7
Question 3: A / B /C – 5 / -1 / -4
Question 4: A / B /C – -8 / 1 / 6
Question 5: A / B /C – 12 / -1 / -8

Let me know if this is easier to read for you guys. It looks uglier in the word document, but it's not all cramped in together on here, since tab spacing doesn't work on the forums.
