Yes it is a good idea to do, it will also put in some extra damage.

At first I never knew Rune Pieces does extra damage. But now I do.

Anyway, which opponents are lightning elemental?

How do you remove Rune Piece from your weapon? The blacksmith only has option to attach...

I've experimented with equipping rune pieces on some of my starting characters (Chiepoo, Tal, Keneth, Mitsuba, Lazlo) but although it does add some extra damage, I find it overall to be quite negligible. =\ Kind of useless in my opinion, I'd rather level up or sharpen weapons.
