[Guide] Old books 1-12

Post by Bright shield »

There's only a spoiler if you did'nt know the game contains books.

Anyways now that thats out of the way, does anyone have a list of what is mentioned in the old books in suikoden 4? I've been looking all over for one. I like to collect them :)

Basicly the book No# and what each book contains.
This is the best it could be, in the best of worlds.

Shu: I had to throw away 'the book.' You read it too many times...

I actually find the old books to be very useful. This game doesn't quite tell you the story in a straight-into-your-face manner, so looking up the details via other means was necessary to understand the story. Especially those books detailing the manhunt incident and rune cannons. The fact that this game doesn't have any other game to rely on (and compared to the others who already have millions of side publications associated with them), these little hints helped a lot.

The only problem though, most of these books are gotten via very mundane tasks. Like those mini-games. If only they were not that tedious, I would have enjoyed it more. :D

Speaking of the contents of the Old Books, I believe there's an entire FAQ on GameFAQs listing all of them. Check it out.

Oh, yeah, there isn't one there. Yet I remembered someone posted all the contents of the Old Books somewhere on this board but I couldn't find that old topic anymore.

A bunch of people wrote down the text, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I knew I hadn't deleted it, I just moved it to the wrong place.

Well anyway I've moved it here so the topic can be found here: http://www.suikosource.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=2264.
What is the difference between PAL and NTSC? Why do some games take ages to get a PAL conversion, or get none whatsoever?
Find the answers and more at http://www.palcorner.com or ask at the forums.

You give the books to Tanya, the librarian, who joins pretty late.

and put it here just like the other suikodens
