Speed is important with these battles as well. The sooner you can strike enemies and kill or incapacitate them with sleep or silence, the better your chances. I rarely make it to the end if I take a bunch of slow, brawny characters.

that's true, in one playthrough I used lazlo, kika, gau, dario. Their hit-all unites almost never let the opponents act at all during the trainnning session( only if gau & dario didn't mess up with their unite flop)
