Support Character Differences?

Sorry if this has been asked already, but I can't find a similar topic.

Many of the support characters have the same abilities (like healing, discovered money, etc) yet unlike III and V there are no grades shown or ways to upgrade and distinguish one character's ability from another. So for the characters with the same support abilities, (like Yu and Carrie, for example with healing) do they heal the same amount, leaving the choice down to preference, or are there some that are better than others?
