The new Bond is Good. Quite Good.

It's hard to really say which is the best Bond movie. None of them are truly magnificent, as they each play out like a 2 hour episode of a long running dramatic british TV show. Sure, there are spots of cinematic marvel that can only be truly appreciated on the silver screen, but all in all the movies try to be what they are: expected. Take Die Another Day for instance. I could show you a few scenes from a trailer, and if you're familiar with Bond movies, yet haven't seen that one, you can pretty much point out who he sleeps with, who he inevitably kills, and a few events that happen in between. But not this one.

Never has a Bond movie ever attempted to be epic. Like 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' epic. But

For the last 1/4 of the movie, this one tries a little bit. It changes quite drastically from your typical 007 lightshow into something.... else.

And what the actual term 'Skyfall' turns out to be is the biggest twist in the series to date. No it's not some rogue satellite or the name of a secret plan to blow up the world.


So all in all, this movie is hard to pinpoint as the best one ever. But it's a little different than any other Bond movie, and that's a start.

I must say I'm looking forward to seeing it. Daniel Craig has been my favourite Bond so far, and I'm glad they got down with the "gritty reboot" crowd as so far they've been much better films than the campy iterations that preceded them.

If you like the gritty over campy, then this more will absolutely knock your socks off. The biggest complaints so far from Bond purists are that it isn't typical Bond enough and the Director is trying to be too much like his idol, Chris Nolan.

Yeah I've heard that too, doesn't bother me too much though, the last film eschewed a lot of typical Bond tropes and I loved it! Plus I defy anybody that thinks trying to emulate one of the greatest filmmakers of our time is a bad thing. Haters always gonna hate though.

I'm on the fence on this one. Loved Casino Royale, hated Quantum of Solace. Quantum of Solace to me seemed more like a vendetta, a revenge mission for Bond. Didn't like the approach.

I don't have any complaints about the cast though, seems pretty solid.

Pretty much every major blockbuster director has been trying to emulate spielberg for 30 years, and that hasn't necessarily been a bad thing. And I don't mind if it's not a stereotypical bond movie, as long as it's a good movie. If you go into any movie with specific expectations, you can't help but be disappointed

I liked it quite a bit. The new Q was super hot (although with impossible hair). I liked the villian quite a bit. I like how he rolled his eyes at Bond's one liners and things like that a few times. Judi Dench was good as always.

I like the nods to previous bonds, like the office at the very end and the car near the end that Bond drives.

I'm hearing nothing but great things about this movie. I'll have to check it out even though my wife refuses to accept a "blonde Bond".

I can't wait to see it. I love Daniel Craig as bond, he's such an improvement from the smarmy last one. Quantum was ho-hum but I'm expecting good things from Skyfall.

Not a big fan of 007 myself, but I love Daniel Craig in his more serious movies, particularly Defiance - based on a true story of how one man setup a retreat town for the Jews during WWII; constantly living on the run, a massive number of survivors lived through WWII thanks to his efforts.

I liked how it was deliberately more personal and worked on characters (both old and new) as it's main issue. I also liked the fact that the usual plot twist was replaced by (shock horror) no twist at all. While the film may have been a little less 'James Bondy-y' than previous films, it's theme was change. The old vs the new. It makes me really excited to see the next one ^-^

I've never been a Bond fan. I enjoyed Casino Royale, thought Quantum of blah blah blah was lame, and my friend who is a Bond fan said he did not like the latest film because it felt like watching a copy of the Dark Knight Rises (which I found disappointing as a Batman film). Think I'll stick with the Bourne movies!

PS - I loved Defiance, but I thought Liev Schrieber and Jamie Bell were both way better than Daniel Craig.
