zero. it's a direct port. it's not terribly expensive either though ($5.99 US).
That's horrible. I wonder why Konami has to re-release a $5.99 Suikoden I when it's all over the web for free.
I will bring Lordlake's fate... to the entire Suikoden World! weeeeeeh!

Because the "free" one is illegal. That, and good luck trying to make that version work with a PS3.

As for someone who wants to play the game legally, it sure as hell beats paying the average 30$ + it costs for a used copy.

Because not everyone pirates games. Most people are willing to pay for their games. ;)

On top of that, if you want to play it on your PSP and you don't live in Japan this is the only way I'm aware of.

Not really... Custom Firmware has allowed for both Suikodens to be on the PSP since... well forever more or less.

It's not even illegal assuming you own actual copies of the games and rip them yourself.

Really? that's interesting. I do indeed have the origional copy and would like to play it on the PSP without having to purchase it, how would I go about doing that? Do you have a link to anywhere that might explain it in detail?

But KFC that'd require doing my own work!

Well I looked around and oh my, looks like I need a degree in astrophysics to get this to happen. Most of these websites are from 2006. . . I don't know if it'll still work with the latest upgrades to firmware. If Sony is trying so hard to upgrade their software to prevent homebrews should I really be doing it? hmmm well I'll keep looking anyway.

It's most definitely illegal, even if you have a copy. Most copyright protection laws pertain to personal copies of the same media to be used on the same players. What you do to transform an ISO into the PSP form is a code port, thus illegal.

This thread is treading dangerously into illegal territory, even though PSP Updates isn't a bad site in itself (it's more of a news blog than anything else at this point).

good theory but no one said anything about an ISO
besides its not like im linking torrent sites or something. pirating is bad, but my thinking is YOU spent the money and bought a psp and suikoden. why should you have to pay another 5 dollars jus to buy a game thats collecting dust in your dresser. Suikoden 1 is VERY good news for those that dont have the origional copy. buy, buy, buy it!! If the psp version (thats out in japan) became available in the playstation store, i would definatly buy it. but no, im not spending money on a game i already have..... sorry playstation store, but i made my purchase in 1996 ($20) JMO

It really is a very grey area. The law is complicated. But, to be on the safe side I think I'll just use Remote Play if I really want to play it on my PSP. Anyone else ever use that feature?

Just like ripping songs from your CD into MP3 is illegal. Oh, no, wait...

Well at least till Capitol v Thomas gets a final ruling at least.
