Any good books we're reading right now?

Post by Gen. Dirge »

Alright, let's see.....read any books lately? Doesn't matter if they were for an independent study in school or not. Let's all sit down and chat about them. This is strictly for novels and books, not graphic novels since we wouldn't wanna start another one of those anime/manga threads, eh?

Alright, me first, then.

I got Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, then I'm currently reading Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger. Lastly, I just got this super-hilarious book last friday, it's called "Ask a ninja presents: The Ninja Handbook" it's totally funny.

How about you guys? :P

I'm looking for The Testament by. . what was his name? Josh something? I read some of it in high school (near the end of my senior year) and before i could finish it I had to. . .well. . .graduate. . . anyway, since then I've been searching for it to buy. It had me interested (which is rare)

Other than that, I'm rereading the Girl With The Pearl Earring.

Anything by Stephen King is amazing. I just finished (within the last few weeks) The Dead Zone, The Long Walk, Roadwork, and The Green Mile. All of them I would recommend anyone to read.

Btw...
The Testament is by John Grisham
Check out The Old Kingdom Ardänia series, starting with the first book, Vermillion Skies

You're the best. I swear you are.
I'll be building a shrine of you as soon as I get home.

It's been years (2) since I last read the little that I read.
So the author's name slipped me mind.

I re-reading A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin right now. The series is A Song of Ice and Fire. I've read all the ones currently out. Believe me, they are amazing.

What a co-incidence. I'm on a Stephen King binge myself. I have read The Stand, Needful Things, Firestarter, Eye of the Dragon and now I'm working on Insomnia.

Indeed, Stephen is quite amazing. Needful Things was good, I haven't quite gotten to Eyes of the Dragon yet. Firestarter was a classic.. man. That was good. And The Stand is among his best work. I totally recommend Dreamcatcher, Desperation and It. Those are by far his best works :D

Oh I forgot about It. I did read that one. I didn't really like it that much, I have trouble seeing through the eyes of children. I'm not really a big fan of children. I liked the parts with the adults. The end on the bike was sensational. But, I liked the villian better in Needful things and to a lesser degree The Stand.

I'll check out Dreamcatcher and Desperation though.

I want to avoid reading The Shining, Mysery, Deloris Clayborne, Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and any of his other books that are now movies because it'll just ruin the movie.

Currently reading 'Thief Of Time' by Terry Pratchett, one of the Discworld novels. Anyone else a fan?

The games were alright, not a patch on the books though. I recommend Hogfather in particular.

I'm currently reading through the Xanth series by Piers Anthony. It is by far my favorite series. I would also recommend anything by Garth Nix.
