Nether Gate makes sense, not sure if short-distance teleportation is part of their training as very little children. He was still young when he was already in the circus, so he must have gotten training of his ability at a very young age. The Succession War happened when he was two years old though, so maybe Nether Gate was on the bound of disbanding or scattered when he was part of it.

The only other speculation I could give is that he's from another dimension, but since there's a given year of birth for him, then that means he was born in the world/dimension of Suikoden.

Hm, you could make sense of this theory if you compare it with Kyril's story.
Sydonia, or just about any character with unexplained powers, could have been born with supernatural abilities due to being half-demon, half-monster or half-interdimensional being.
