why do i feel like i'm the only one who associate said skill of Sydonia with the ninjas?

i've seen similar movements from Mizuki and Akaghi in SIV

Kage has done it in both SI and SII

so...

if it's officially not about rune

it has to be speed, which ninjas excel at

dunno if Sydonia's a ninja though

I am sure he was before he became a bandit.
Maybe something happened & he was banished.
He can teleport but only a few feet away if i remember right when the group rescued them when they was tied up.

Kage also disapeared the same way after the meeting with the blue print.
Mitszuki as well.
Ninja arts seem to have a history of it's own.
I would not be surprised if there was a Suikoden with a big part of the story with ninja's.

Sydonia developed his power naturally, while ninjas learn how to do their thing. but can ninjas teleport when they're tied up? i doubt it...

Sydonia was never a ninja or anything. He was raised by a travelling circus, and his strange ability was used as a means to generate income for the circus. He was virtually enslaved by the circus master by having an unremovable necklace around his neck that allowed the circus master to summon him at will. He was rescued from the circus by Varkas when he was a boy. This info comes from the Konami short stories collections.

Developers have said his power doesn't come from a rune.

Nah, it's not speed. He's capable of teleporting very short distances.

If he supposedly could do this naturally from birth then I guess the answer lies in who his parents were, maybe, I don't know. As of yet there's just too little info to go on regarding his character.

BTW, am I the only one who gets weirded out every time during the rescue-scene where he teleports out of his ropes? If he could do that then why didn't he just save himself and Varkas right off the bat?

That, my fellow Swede, is what Varkas asked him as well.

If my memory serves me right, it's because he didn't know of a way to free Varkas and therefore he hung there together with him, bound.

When questioned as to why Syndonia didn't escape when he could have the entire time, Syndonia says "Couldn't very well escape on my own". Then Varkas goes, "Sydonia, you . . ."

What I think he meant to say before getting cut off by Gremio was "Sydonia, you . . . . idiot."
"Black Rune, pink balloon! This guy killed Gremio!!!"

Those silly mountain bandits. I even love the part where a bandit shows up at the old Liberation Army HQ in Lenankamp seeking help for his bosses and goes "I'm one of the Mt. Seifu bandits, but we only attack those rotten Imperials."

Like, you try to picture Odessa going "*gasp* mountain bandits! Oh wait, he only attacks Imperials, he's okay then."

Possible Nether Gate escapee? I don't ever recall him showing "emotions" or anything of the sort.
Teleporting like that may have been one of the abilities they were taught. I mean, a couple of people from the Falena area ended up on the Northern continent. So travel was entirely possible. Look at Morgan.
