Why the two Gordons share the same name?

Post by Sasarai10 »

Never understood the reason behind it. When i played S3 for the first time i thought Gordon from S3 was the same Gordon from S2...then i wondered how the hell he could be 53 and he looked so much younger? no way!

There are thousands of other names,so i really wonder why the creators chose to give the same name to those 2 characters. Since they share the same star as well, then many people might assume that they are the same person :?

There are more characters with the same name - Hugo and Gau.

But why shouldn't they share the same name? And there will e no official explanation on why it is.

In this case they share the same star though...that's why it makes things more confusing :|

Assigning individual names to 600+ distinct characters is probably not as easy as it seems?

Understandable that there would be some characters living in the same world with the same name, but Sas does have a point that they are both the same star. You'd think there'd be some reasoning behind it.

- What shall we name our Chikou star in this game?
- Dunno. What was he called in the last game?
- Gordon.
- Yeah, that'll do.
- Are you sure...? Suikodn 2's Gordon was a drab looking old merchant and this guy's a sharply dressed ponce.
- Whatever.

Sure i understand...like with the 2 Gaus. In this case there wouldn't be any confusion, since they are both totally different starts, and they belong to a different timeline anyway. But having 2 characters with the same name AND the same star, would lead into confusion imo :|

btw,i found this. Maybe the name "Gordon" might be a reference to this particular real-life merchant:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Gordon_(merchant)

John Gordon (c. 1710–1778) was a Loyalist British merchant and trader of Scottish origin who lived in South Carolina for many years. He settled in Charles Town about 1760, and from 1759 to 1773 he was a major exporter of deerskins supplied by Native American hunters.[1] Gordon also participated in the transatlantic slave trade,[2] but was not a major importer of captive Africans.

John Gordon did business in Charles Town and Savannah, as well as in British East Florida. The regional network of Scottish traders headed by Gordon in Charles Town, and the brothers John and James Graham in Savannah, served as a liaison between government officials[3] (many of them fellow Scots to whom they were connected politically) and the Indian tribes, primarily the Creeks.[4] Gordon also underwrote the mercantile activities of George Galphin, the wealthiest Indian trader in the Southeast, whose trading firm was predominant in the tribal towns of the Chattahoochee Valley and in Coweta.[5]

Yeah, maybe their parents of both Gordon inspired with another legendary merchant in suiko's world named Gordon too... we can see how much people in this world named their son for example Ronaldo, and raised them to be a soccer player.. XD
