Command / Special attack runes

Post by OneRune »

Are Special Attack runes such as Falcon and Spider-Slay runes actual naturally occuring runes or are they more of a "technique"?

You can't get them as item drops and include them on others, if that's what you mean (except in Suikoden 1 with the Trick and Boar Runes). Those unique Command Runes are generally "techniques" for the specific characters that have them locked on.

My question is more related to the lore of the series. And how runes are created. Are command runes like Falcon and Spider Slay supposed to be "actual" runes that appear in the Suikoden world, or are they physical abilities or techniques that the characters possess?

Ah. In that case, I think they are supposed to be special skills, but they are made into Runes for gameplay purposes.

Roundier Haia hands out Falcon Runes to his students so those exist as a physical objects at least, but they may be purely decorative and the skills innate to the bearer.
