Would it be better if Lyon was a guy?

Post by Mio »

i guess my point is, if Lyon wasn't a potential love interest/bodyguard

would it be better if she became a loyal friend/bodyguard?

kinda like the thing betweed Tir and Gremio, Riou and Jowy, Hugo and Lulu, Lazlo and Snowe

and prolly we won't end up second guessing her every move

asking ourselves, "does he like the prince in an intimate way or not?"

and ultimately, not getting annoyed by her

like a bee buzzing over some flower
--------------------------------------
this question if obviously for those who are not attuned to Lyon's character buildup

but hey feel free to express/defend your side

Neither Jowy nor Riou were bodyguards, Lulu was not a body guard, and the full ramifications of his friendship with Hugo are still a little fuzzy to me. And Snowe and Lazlo's friendship never seemed to mend to me, especially in Tactics that you have to recruit them seperately.

For Reference, Gremio was INIFINITELY more annoying then Lyon, as was Lulu.

So in answer to your inquiry, no, i dont think it would be that important.

I dont think mio was comparing all of those other characters to be bodyguard-esq, but more of like a true friendship of some sort, and to answer your question mio, i kind of like how it was a girl, since we have seen so many male, male true friendships and now there is like a guy and a girl who really care about each other but not in THAT way, ya know? it was a nice little switch up, but i def could see lyon being a guy as well, being like the big brother type to the prince for sure. I hope that was a good reply to ur question :)

I actually liked how Lyon was a girl, but didn't actually end up in a too-romantic relationship with the hero.

As far as comparisons with past games are concerned, Prince-Lyon is probably most similar with Tir-Gremio and Riou-Nanami. Or even Thomas-Cecile and Hugo-Fubar, if you must.

Their relationship is of a different nature than the rivalries in Riou-Jowy and Lazlo-Snowe though.

Lastly, Hugo-Lulu reminds me of Tir-Ted though. Prince-Lyon isn't that kind of tragic friendship either.

ah !! male true friendships

the exact words i was looking for

if they were both guys, you would accept them as friends

but now that Lyon is a girl, with a hint of chivalry in the sides

everything's changed, you second guess every move Lyon does

you start to see how they can become a couple

but then you also see Lyon's distinct feature, hovering all over the prince

suddenly, romantic turns to annoying

true guy friendship or romantic/annoying relationship?

i disagree. I never really saw her as "hovering" anymore then nanami or Gremio. I think it adds a bit of depth to the series that she IS a woman, rather then a guy. I never got to the point of questioning her every move and thinking that she wants to bone the prince. I saw her very much as i see the women I'm friends with, but have no intention of dating. I dont see the big deal here, and i think it makes very little difference whether she's a guy or girl, its just to show the variety of the world, and how Falena accepts and raises its women citizens. So in that sense, it is actually BETTER that she was a woman.

Lyon is a body guard.
She is doing her job.
Since the kingdom is ran by a queen, I can see why body guards can be women.

I think she cared for the prince like a brother.Otherwise it was her job. To protect the prince at all costs.

Yeah, she IS more 'hovering' than Nanami. I'm SOOO annoyed when she makes drama and act humble and all. I don't know why!

Nanami is also annoying esp. because she must always be in your party at the early parts of the game but she is funny most of the times.

Lyon is just more...........annoying.

i dont know about all that, but what i love in suikoden V is if there is a required party member like lyon most of the time, or just a character that you dont care to level up, and u already have characters who you KNOW that you want to use, you can just put a character you Want to use, put them in your extra party thing, like where marina would be, then SWAP! woo! thats what i did, since i already beat the game like 3 times, so thats where lyon stays hehe, unlike in suikoden 2 where you HAD to have nanami most of the time Blah, but later in the game when its not Required to have nanami, i never used her, not one of my favs, (because she really did get on my nerves ;p )

Well, I don't think she needs to be transgenered or a transvestite. But I would be perfectly happy if she was a guy and there was still some romance. But, that'll never happen for multiple reasons.

Gay? Not for it. Lyon's role is a serious and big role. Maybe one of the QKs. A comic knight would be fun!

*i'm imagining him flirting w/ Kyle*lol

Fruity? Anyways, I never though of their relationship as being lovers. I always though it was more of a brother and sister thing lyon being the bigger sister offcourse
