Sun-Night relationship

Post by Iesous »

I have several questions regarding the way that the Sun and Night rune were bonded.

1. Has there been any other True-runic relationship, where two distinct True runes are bonded together like that of the Sun and Night runes? Beginning and Gate don't count since they are one rune that is split into two.

2. If the Sword-Shield myth is to be taken as an historical event, how is it that there were twenty-seven jewels, and yet two of them were combined? Wouldn't that make 26?

3. When did the separation occur between the Sun and Night? Right at the beginning of the world? If so, that seems like it would make the Dawn and Twilight runes the first non-true runes to be born? (This also brings forward the question of how other runes come into being.)

It's not quite as prominent as the Sun-Night bond, but we already have a subplot focusing on the link between the Night and Moon runes; Neclord's demise. And, then there is also the seemingly "isolated" portion of the world balance governed by the five elemental true runes providing the motivation necessary for the Masked Bishop's grand scheme.

Supposedly the Sun-Night bond does not mean they are physically bonded together. With the runes having their own will and personality, it was probably more similar to a psychological relationship, not unlike those between humans and/or other beings.

No idea. As far as official timeline is concerned, the first even recorded in the calendar is Sierra Mikain's story. The Creation Myth and this Sun-Night add-on are beyond the actual history, it seems.

1. two true runes bonded only in SV

2. think of "bond" instead of "combine". like two molecules say i.e. Oxygen

then one molecule detaches itself, the bond breaks and the rest is history

3. well for sure the separation happened after the story of the Rune of the Beginning

so if the sword and shield created the 27 true runes then the sword and shield are the first... right? (doubting myself)

The Creation Myth is primarily about the birth of the world, so it's not exactly a "story of the Rune of Beginning" per se.

If you are referring to Sword and Shield mentioned in the Creation Myth, then -- yes -- they do come before all the 27 True Runes, including the Rune of Beginning. Of course, the Darkness and its Tear precedes it chronologically.

If you are referring to the components of the Rune of Beginning, there is probably no sequence recorded considering the original Sword and Shield broke and shattered at pretty much the same time. The timing when the 27 jewels fell off may be more or less the same.
