Even thought when I pronounce it I say it rather fast so the "e" doesn't get dragged on and as for the "code-en" its basically like one word.

The last three sound VERY similar. I've ran it by a few of my friends (Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, English with Mandarin/Japanese/Linguistics Major) and thus far I seem to have got it right.

i also pronounce it su-ko-den. i've always thought it sounded better this way and i doubt i'll ever change how i perceive it to be spelled.

I pronounce her name as "JEEN" like jeans. I figured Hurricane Jeanne was pronounced the same way by my weather man, so why not?

You mean like Jean Gray.....yea but that Jeanne has a double N in there. I always went with a somewhat of a twist on the geanie kinda way.

Jeanne is pronounced "she-owns-all".

Well, this may be common, but how do the other people here pronounce "Hugo"? Hoo-go, Hyu-go or (chuckle)Huj-o?

Hugo Weaving (head elf in LOTR and more famous as Mr.Smith in the Matrix)

"Hue-go"

I thought that was a common name.

O and whilst I like you're pronounciation of Jeane I don't think its quite there.

I pronounce it "Hyoo-GO", but I didn't think there was a different way to pronounce his name. Howabout "hug-OH"? ><;;

Well "Hue-go" and "Hyoo-Go" are really kinda the same, but "hug-oh".....I've got no idea where you got that but it just sounds wrong!!! Like a tellytubbie or something.

Anyways, anyone know how to pronounce Jeane??? Anyone at all??? Dammit where are SARS, Shiro, Red and Ced when you need em.

Jeane is pronouced like "Jean."

As far as Hugo goes, it can also be pronounced as "Yugo," which is how Suikoden 1's Hugo is supposed to be pronounced. Suikoden 3's Hugo is pronounced as "Hyu-go"

You don't need to get info from Konami. Japanese is a phonetic language, so there is only one way you can pronounce a name, thus there is no confusion about how character's names should be pronounced.

That means the two Hugos have different names in Japanese, but are just translated the same into English?
